Chinese e-bike manufacturer ENGWE has introduced its X26 electric bike which it says is rugged and versatile. The ENGWE X26 comes with a range of about 100km (62 miles) and can reach speeds of 50km/h (31mph). ENGWE says the X26 is a solution for undecided buyers desirous of picking a rugged, fast, versatile, and long-range e-bike.

The ENGWE X26 is designed for both urban and off-road trips. Its 26-inch tires are 4 inches thick, providing sturdiness and comfort in tough terrains. The sturdy frame of the X26 comes with the capacity for a large payload. It can also take an additional passenger at the rear of the e-bike. ENGWE also says that the distinctive styling of the X26 gives it a unique appeal. Its suspension consisting of air, mechanical shock, and normal suspensions provides added comfort while riding. The front, middle and rear suspensions could affect the pedal feel of the bike, but this is speculative at this time.

The rear-hub electric motor is rated 750W and can peak at 1,000W. This translates to its top speed of 31mph. Normal, Sport and Assist riding modes are available in ENGWE X26. The Normal mode delivers the top range of about 100km or 62 miles. The X26 has a primary built-in battery and a secondary, removable 9.6Ah battery. The secondary battery can be charged and replaced, offering additional range for the X26.

The bike weighs 41kg, is foldable, and is offered at a discounted $1,600 price via IndieGoGo. The Indiegogo campaign for the X26 kicked off this month and shipping will commence in August 2022. The United States, the United Kingdom, and Europe are the initial markets targeted.
