What exactly is the difference between 1 DIN and 2 DIN music systems?
International standard ISO 7736 defines a standard size for car audio head units. The standard was originally established by the German standards body
Deutsches Institut für Normung (DIN). There are
DIN standards for a large number of different connectors, therefore the term
DIN connector alone does not unambiguously identify any particular type of connector unless the document number of the relevant DIN standard is added (e.g., DIN 41524 connector). It was adopted as an international standard in 1984. Head units generally come in either
Single DIN (180 x 50 mm panel) or
Double DIN (180 x 100 mm panel) size. Please note, the depth is not standard. 1 DIN is the standard DIN specification. 2 DIN or double DIN refers to units that are twice as high as the standard DIN, half DIN is half high as 1 DIN. The US standard for a DIN radio is generally considered to be approximately
2" x 7" and the Double DIN is
4" x 7". So you should check the player position height of your car carefully, if 50mm, you should get 1 Din Car audio, and if 100mm, please choose 2 Din audio.
Also note that other than the size and connector used, the specification is not dependent on features. Hope this clarifies your query.
