Day-3

Date: 26-03-2012
Day: Monday

Activity: Early morning Golden temple visit, shopping at local market, Movie at Alpha one mall, dinner at Guru ka langar.

We wake up at 3:30AM and got ready by 4:00AM to board the auto arranged by hotel staff on request, for Golden temple drop auto charged INR 100 from us. Due to huge rush on Saturday and Sunday, we planned early morning visit on suggestion of hotel staff and local peoples, today had darshan twice as palki was also on the way, after darshan we visited Guru ka langar for early morning tea and sewa, returned back to our hotel by 7:30AM. Started again at 11:00AM for local shopping and then headed towards Alpha one mall for movie, only to find that Agent Vinod is a pathetic movie, complete waste of time, in the evening visited Golden temple again and had dinner at guru ka langar.

Route taken: Amritsar- Jalandhar-Ludhiana-Ambala-Karnal-Panipat-Sonepat-Delhi
Destination: Delhi
Total KM: 494KM
Number of Halts: 2
Start time: 09:00 AM
End Time: 6:30 PM
Total Hrs: 9:30 Hrs
Total halt time: 1:15 Hrs
Total diesel: INR 1100 from Punjab

After much of a discussion we decided to stick to the earlier route, during return journey luckily we didn’t get much of traffic jam, in this route major bottleneck was Ludhiana one of my friends suggested me to enter Ludhiana to avoid jam but we hadn’t tried this.

We started from Amritsar at 9:00AM, roads were mostly empty and straight but full of diversions which was quite irritating. Got tankful after crossing Amritsar city, after crossing Ludhiana we stopped for our first break at McD after 45 minutes halt we started our journey again this time it was much smooth and fast compared to up journey.

Soon we are approaching towards Delhi, saw one BMW near Ambala chased her down till Panipat, at Panipat crossing traffic guy caught our vehicle for tinted glass and demanded INR1000 fine but after some hard bargaining he settled for 250 bucks, soon we had taken our second break for tea and snacks, after spending 30 minutes here we started again for Delhi, reached at my In-laws place at 6:30PM.

Above post concludes my Delhi-Amritsar Delhi trip will soon post my Delhi-Jaipur-Delhi trip for which i will start my journey on this Friday.

Fantastic Writeup Toughguy !!!! This is outstanding !!!! I am really tempted to goto Amritsar however am travelling to Varanasi via flight !!!!! Will surely plan a trip ASAP.
