Re: Delhi-Amritsar-Delhi Road Trip in My Polo: March 2012

Day-2

Date: 25-03-2012
Day: Sunday

Activity: Local site seeing and Wagah border visit

Mode of transport:

For local site seeing: Hired auto for INR 400 for 11:00AM to 2:30PM, total time taken 3hrs, following places are covered by Ramtirath (Luv-Kush birth place), Lal bhawan rani ka bagh, Durgiana temple and lunch at Bhrawan da dhaba.

For Wagah border: Own car

Route taken: Amritsar-Wagah border direct and straight road along railway track
Total KM: 54KM
Number of Halts: NIL
Start time: 03:00 PM
End Time: 3:45 PM
Total Hrs: 45 Minutes
Total toll: INR 45

Being Sunday we started our day at leisure, for local site seeing we hired a auto from outside our hotel, initially he demanded 800 bucks but later settled for 400 bucks, at 11:00AM we boarded the auto and headed towards Ramtirath 13KM (approx) away from the main city after that we visited Lal bhawan rani ka bagh and Durgiana temple. Had our lunch at Bhrawan da dhaba which was packed to its capacity, got table after some wait but to our utter surprise food was not up to the mark or maybe we expected more from them.

After our lunch auto dropped us at the hotel from there we picked our car and reached Wagah border by 3:45PM, road from Amritsar to Wagah border was in excellent condition, due to Sunday we encountered heavy rush at the Wagah border and situation was more like stampede, uncontrolled and unmanaged crowd was waiting for gates to open from gates you have to run 400-500M more to reach the stand to grab your seat, they open the gates at 4:30PM and finally show begins at 5:30PM after completion of the show we lost our wife’s due to separate line and stand for ladies and on top of that there is no mobile network near stand area, after half n hour we found them and started our journey back to hotel, parked our car there and hired a auto to visit local market for shopping but found most of the shops are closed due to Sunday and some strike, after little bit of shopping we hired cycle rickshaw for Kesar da dhaba, we are surprise to see so much crowd here, may be very popular restaurant of this area but food was ok type, finally reach our hotel by 10:30PM after our dinner.
