The success of Mahindra and TVS scooters has prompted the leading two wheel auto-manufacturer – Yamaha to release the exciting range of their scooters in India, at last. Yamaha Motor’s National Business Head, Pankaj Dubey recently confirmed about this in an official interview:
We have completed the feasibility study and plan to launch new gearless scooters in the Indian market shortly. We will enter the market with exciting products in the scooter segment. We are confident that our products will do well…gear-less scooters are more in demand in the market.

Looks like Yamaha is looking to garner a bigger piece of the pie and take the fight back to he Honda camp. While TVS, Mahindra and the others had better watch out, i sincerely hope that the offerings are exciting enough to be worthy of the renewed Yamaha Legacy!

:)

Those scooters are just another regular models. But this is what I would really love to see (Yamaha Majesty).

Whoa! 350Z, you really feel, Yamaha or any of the competition will actually introduce such products?

With the big-bore bikes, there is still enough demand to justify their introduction; but with these big-bore moto-scooters, what kind of response will they generate[confused]

Can't say if Yamaha will ever bring motoscooters in India. But I think there's for sure a fair scope for them in the market. Just that most of the manufacturers wish to compete in already established territories rather trying something new.

IMO, the big bore scooters will catch the market faster. The reason is pretty straight forward. Nowadays gear less scooters are considered to be something which is useful to all the family members (like your father, grandpa, sister, wife etc.) I have seen guys buying Activa, Access and Duro just for this reason (they are adjusting to limited power and almost the same styling of these scooters)

The problem with the current models is that they are more designed for city rides and not for long rides. Models similar to Yamaha Majesty are an exception to this era. They are capable to do much more than a city scooter!

well yamaha will launch scooters only by end next year 2012..

Yamaha has always been boastful of their advance technology and would continue the same trend with their new scooter as well. “The scooter would be the most advance in its class and would take the likes of the Activa and Wego head on” a source has revealed to Business Standard. The model is undergoing development and it will take Yamaha till the end of 2012 to show a finished product.

The Ray, which should be launched by Diwali this year, was recently caught testing on the public roads. Meant to target primarily the female customers, the Ray will most likely be powered by a 125cc single cylinder air cooled engine. The new scooter will have its styling, vivid colours, smooth ride and a big storage space as some of its USPs.
