I Want to know the full form of NGTAI on TAI .
NGTAI is New Generation of The Automotive India. We often refer this forum as NGTAI because initially (From 2008 - 2009) our website was on a different software.

Re: Commonly used shortforms and pnemonics on TAI.

B

BHP - Brake Horse Power(now converted to PS)

PS -pferdestarke (unit of power )

.
Some explaination is needs on the above two terms, as they are most frequently used words in automotive world.

The brake horse power means the amount of available of power from the engine when the vehicle is on the road .(the original power gets shared by gear box )
While horse power means amount of available power when it is yet to be mounted on the vehicle.( no gear box attached)

PS - P stands for ' pferde ', It is a german word meaning 'Horse'
S stands for 'starke' meaning power
So PS is synonymous with HP

The relationship between BHP and PS is that
1BHP =98.6% of 1 PS
For eg. - 88 BHP = 90 PS.

Few more acronyms ...
BP -Bharat Petroleum

HP -Hindustan Petroleum.

IBP -Indo-Burma Petroleum
IO -Indian Oil.

PSI -pounds per square inch.

TD-Test Drive., Test drove, Test driven.
TDing -Test driving

Use of 'TDed' for 'Test drove/driven' should not be done.

I want to know wheather it is acceptable to abbreviate 'Test Ride' in case as of 2 wheelers as' TR'?
