ICRA- comments on Passenger and Commercial Vehicle Sales &Tractors

Mr. Ashish Modani, Vice President & Sector Head - Corporate Ratings, ICRA Limited
has shared his views on ‘Passenger and Commercial Vehicle Sales for June 2021’. His comments are enclosed herewith.

“Domestic PV wholesale volume witnessed sharp recovery MoM during June-2021, primarily due to pent-up demand as well as some impact of inventory stocking at dealerships, which was relatively at a lean level earlier. Certain specific models/variants are currently commanding a long waiting period, thereby providing some support and visibility to overall PV volume. CV dispatches also witnessed handsome MoM and YoY growth, albeit on a low base. Gradual opening up of lockdown restrictions and expected pickup in economic activity should support improvement in CV demand going forward.”

ICRA- Rohan Kanwar Gupta comments on Tractors

Mr. Rohan Kanwar Gupta, Vice President & Sector Head, Corporate Ratings, ICRA Limited has shared his views on ‘Tractors’. His comments are enclosed herewith.

“A sudden and severe onset of the second wave of the pandemic had impeded the growth momentum of the tractor industry over the past two months; in addition to state lockdowns impacting dealership operations across regions, rural sentiments were also impacted to an extent by the enhanced spread of infections into the hinterlands.

With lockdowns being relaxed across most regions in June however, the industry’s wholesale volumes reported a marked improvement on a sequential (~99%) and YoY basis (~18.5%). Healthy farm sentiments, aided by a) strong farm cash flows across regions b) stable crop prices supported by enhancement government focus on procurement c) healthy monsoon forecast d) government support programmes and e) adequate financing availability, have supported a quick revival in the industry’s fortunes, and are likely to help the industry record healthy domestic volumes in the current fiscal. The industry’s export volumes also continue to report a healthy trend, aided by improved demand across geographies catered, and would support the industry volumes.”
