BMW X3 launched in India

These spy shots by Autocar India confirm that BMW is all geared up to launch their all new X3 in India soon. Competing with Land Rover Free Lander, Audi Q5 and Volvo XC60, the New X3 will not only have upgraded looks but also it will now come in form of CKD, as opposed to CBU. So, expect the price to be slightly more affordable.

oh this is some news now. ckd will be better to have and maybe this is result of volvos and others coming in? but i dislike lights of new X3

The new X3 looks more like a grown up X1 rather than a shrunken X5.

+1 to AMG and those headlamps does not give that aggressive look of an SUV/MUV! And good news if its going to be CKD too!

Guess what? BMW has given a sudden surprise by announcing the release date of New X3. The car will be launching on August 25th, 2011 according to Indian Autos Blog. It will be available with a couple of variants, that is, xDrive20d (with a 2L 184hp/380Nm mill) and xDrive30d (with a 3L 258hp/560Nm mill). Expect the pricing to fall anywhere around Rs.38 Lakhs.

I have never been a fan of this thing and its not going to change with this new gen X3 also. Somehow I feel that this thing falls in a no men land, nor here neither there. The last X3 was no sales sucess for BMW India, and I have feeling that this one will be no different.

Hmm i too agree with Spandy but Umang i think you should compare only the Q5 with X3. Q3 competes with X1 if i am right.


If i had to pick one i would pick Q5 instantly , based purely on looks only though!

BMW has released the New X3 in India. An update from Indian Autos Blog:

- xDrive 20d: Rs.41.2 lakh
- xDrive 30d: Rs.47.9 lakh

Deliveries will begin from September onwards and the car is available in total of Eight and Five colors for exterior and interiors respectively.

Somehow, i am in love with the new BMW X3. To me it is looking far more appealing than the X5. Further more, i see no mention of Petrol version? Has it been launched only with diesel heart?

Yes Akash. New X3 is available only with Diesel Engine. BMW is producing it as CKD and has increased the production capacity up to 12,000 units per year.
