Which gear oil you are using for chain lube am fed up spending for the chainlubes... and how much it will cost???
Was using 90 grade gear oil (which ever brand available as stock at time of purchase). 500 ml costs some 90 bucks.

After painting rims, I am into chain lube sprays.

Hello deville_56

Congratulations on hitting the 1.05 Lac km mark. It is a big milestone in the life of our FZ and kudos to you for maintaining the bike in top condition. I have seen most bikes packing up totally at 60-70k kms but seeing the condition of yours from the pictures, it seems good to go for another 45-50k kms without much trouble. I have been following your thread since around 2014. Some questions for you -

1. A relative has bought Motul chain lube, but is yet to use it. Is it significantly better than the TVS chain lube? It costed him 425 bucks for 400 ml (MRP Rs. 550) and TVS one costs around 380 bucks for 500 ml. So would you recommend Motul or TVS? Requirement is for travel on fairly dusty paved roads at 60+ speeds mostly.

2. His bike has been properly run-in and covered around 2000 kms in 2 months. Yamaha guys changed the oil to FS at 950 kms, which is too early and my friend didn't object as he is a noob when it comes to these things. Will it create any problem in the run-in? Also which oil would you recommend if one is looking for long drain intervals over everything else?

3. Will the service centre folks remove chain lube and engine oil from the job sheet if insisted? Will they cite any warranty reasons?

4. How does one lube the chain on a bike without a main stand? Will tilting it on the side stand till the rear wheel is off the ground and then spraying on moving wheel be safe enough? Service centre folks use a main stand from some bike and put a rod instead of screwing to lube the chain. Do you have any idea about this? He doesn't want to spend too much on this.

The bike in question is an R15 v2.

Regards,
Alpha

Hi, Was gald to see how passionately you have kept your motorcycle.
BYW, you can get this part at any car spares shop for Rs 5/- or 10. You may have to take this piece with you to make them understand the size of the nut you are looking for.

Thank you thank you.
1. Motul is superior over TVS, avoided Motul just because of cost. Motul runs cleaner, leaving less residue on rims, but hard to clean the chain and does not stay well on during rain. Tribcor was the best VFM option I have used.
2. From my experience , yamalube fs was not great in terms of longevity, may be becuase the bike is too old. No harm using synthetics at this low km (debatable). Even the. I prefer Moguls. For extended drain interval use 7100, will last 4-4.5k km of highway use, but do check level religiously. FZ loves 5100, which can last 3-3.5km.. Try the yamalibe FS, may be it will work better with new bikes. If not switch to Motul or Shell.
3. Chain lube can be deleted. Engine oil depends on rapport with the advisor.
4. I use paddock stand. RX100 stand can be used with R15, costs 200. Service stand for R15 is available on order, similar to RX stand, costs 600.
