Launch will first happen in Delhi, on 16th Oct 2019.

Bajaj has recently announced that it will launch a ‘special’ product at an event named ‘Hamara Kal’ on October 16. Though the company wasn’t forthcoming with further details of the product in question, we all know that it is going to be an electric scooter.

Nothing much about the Bajaj Chetak electric is known as of now save for the fact that it will adopt retro-classic styling. The camouflaged test mules also revealed generously proportioned seat, LED DRLs, digital instrument console (at least partially digital) and alloy wheels.

If they solve the problem of range and peppiness in this scooter, it can be successful. Hero electric scooters suffer from this problem. They are not successful.

Do you plan to go for an electric scooter in the near future?Just asking as I would want to.
Surely i would like to reduce my carbon footprint, looking at the future, and govt's stern determination.
Let's see what Sanjeev Bajaj brings to the plate on 16th. Looking at the spy pictures the body looks bulbous like the Jupiter, is riding on 12" alloy wheels, Disk brakes, 80/100 k price.
My mohalla runabout for dawa daaru, should be a big scooter 14" wheels, 80/100km range, Li-ion removable battery pack, a hook below the handle (for my jhoola (shopping bag)).
Knowing Sanjeev and his fetishes for quickly upgrading his product portfolio, and good old Joseph his trusty designer around, it's doable for Bajaj.
My timeline is a year from now.
Let's hope for the best.

Why do you insist so much on big wheels? Will it make some difference in city driving?

Try a Jupiter which has both 12" wheels, telescopic front & gas filled rear suspension, it doesn't hurt your back, unlike Activa which has primitive setup, which hurts the spine on broken roads.
Try it to believe me.

Lovely retro looking scooter, with the iconic Chetak badge, the sides and seat resembles Vespa, nice alloys.
All what needs to be seen is the price, premium or aggressive, will surely be giving Asther sleepless nights.

Bajaj Chetak electric scooter manufacturing at the silent factory – Video

The first Bajaj Chetak electric scooter was manufactured on 25th Sep, at an all new plant. Bajaj calls this as their silent factory. The reason Chetak plant is called silent factory, is because it does not have conventional processes of manufacturing. Below is the video released by Bajaj on the manufacturing and roll out of Chetak electric scooter.

At its peak, the Chetak enjoyed unprecedented popularity with waiting periods exceeding 10 years and a resale value greater than its purchase price! No wonder that more than 1.3 crore Chetaks were sold in India. Its incomparable popularity earned it the endearing sentiment of ‘Hamara Bajaj’.

Timeless Design

Its iconic design lends the Chetak with a beauty that transcends time. Simple lines and smooth surfaces are woven together softly to create a classic style that democratises distinctiveness.

In the new Chetak, this timelessness has been updated with exquisite detailing, the use of premium materials & finishes, and a choice of 6 eye-catching colours that embellish its familiar form to achieve exceptional visual delight and touch & feel quality.

Exquisite Features
The new Chetak features a hypnotic horseshoe shaped LED headlight with DRLs, feather touch activated electronic switches and sequential scrolling LED blinkers. A rigid frame clad with sheet metal body panels and a tubular single sided suspension vest the Chetak with the uncompromising strength and durability that it is famous for. The powertrain similarly employs a unique single-sided cast aluminium swing arm which houses the traction motor that drives the wheel through a high-efficiency automated gear box.

Magical experience
Quiet, clean, comfortable and convenient to ride; elegant yet understated; robust yet refined. As much as riding the Chetak is an almost surreal experience, so also is the process of its creation. The new Chetak is made at a state-of-the-art dust-free, temperature controlled facility at Chakan to exacting standards using the best materials and cutting edge robotic technology. With a work force comprising 80% women, this is truly a production line of the future!
