When will MSIL launch Swift Sport in India ? Does it come with 1.0 Boosterjet and 6-speed Torque converter Automatic ? Any information on this ?

Even if it comes with an Automatic GB, Maruti will only give it the AMT and not the TC. TC gearbox will bloat the cost by another 1.2 lakhs and will put the Swift in the Baleno segment. For a car which has fewer features when compared to Baleno Boosterjet, Torque Converter will make it a DoA. Baleno boosterjet as such is a sales dud.

Waiting for day after 9-Feb-18 for pricing and variant details, the new LED lights look really cool. I guess they will have to manage a significant price gap with the Baleno.

Maruti is giving VFM pricing for Swift starting at 4.99 Lacs. The Diesel Automatics are also well priced and I see good demand for these for those having high amount of daily driving. Thats one thing we need to appreciate, Maruti don't take it easy and keep introducing products with Buyer's requirements in mind.

When I bought my Maruti Swift Vxi in Hyderabad back in July 2007- the ex showroom price was 4.28 lacs. granted it had the 1.3 engine. But today the Vxi is launched at 5.87 lacs. for 10.5 years a 37% increase in price is very reasonable.

The pricing of new Swift makes it an expensive proposition for the class, specially the ZXi/ZXi+/ZDi/ZDi+ and their AMTs, but most interesting part is its easily on level grounds with Marutis own baleno in terms of pricing,

Baleno and swift are closely matched in prices and Maruti says these are introductory prices! Will it mean Maruti will hike the prices in near future to match that of Baleno?

Well in that case Maruti is taking customers for a ride.
From what I understand Maruti is no more a cheap car to buy, but expensive one, their new platforms are expensive and all cars spawned from new platforms are expensive irrespective of size, features etc.
Swift,Ignis,Baleno,SCross,Ciaz,Brezza all are priced on higher side and yet their sales just seem to skyrocket, meaning Indian car buyer is ready to spent extra for better products, alas has marured, but the thing is Suzuki has consistently focused India while developing new cars and platforms, that sincerity is getting rewarded in huge sales, seems like competitors have nothing left in their armory to post even a threat to Maruti, even the ever fast growin Tata seems miniscule in front of Maruti.

No company knows Indian automotive market better then MS. But they're driving consumer in wrong direction. By putting airbags and ABS they make consumer believe their cars are safe and that wafer thin outside sheet metal is actually to absorb shock. Technically I agree but outside sheet metal should atleast have strength to survive in Indian conditions. Here we drive like crazy, in tighter spaces bikers don't even bother to see their leg guard or other parts are scratching someone's car. Small crashes are part of our life where these external sheet metal needs atleast some strength.

People need to understand that mileage isn't the only thing they should consider while buying a car. Safety is a major concern in India.

Maruti Cars, when comparing variants and segment are still cheaper and more VFM than thier customers except may be TATA.

Thats one of the problem they are facing too ! They aren't able to do a premium show off , but with the last few launches they tried to do it with the premium pricing and it got mixed reactions .

*The Scross got flopped due to the premium positioning , the market it's working now is completely different from what it was launched .
*The Baleno undercuts i20 by huge margin , so it's in safe zone .
* The Brezza undercuts Ecosport by huge margin, safe zone .
*Ignis tried premium pricing and getting a very weak response.
*Ciaz sells well due to the lowest positioning in the segment .
*Dzire & Swift are well established brands for Maruti , same like city for Honda , they tried a premium positioning with Dzire and it's working, so why not on swift ? I hope it will work this time too but may not be that sustainable .

Check this out,
I dont think Maruti has any chance to be as good as a Polo in terms of built quality, fit finish and overall quality, ride and handling as well, Polo is a TRUE premium hatch and see where the new SWift ZXi+ price has landed

Here is the diesel top end pricing comparison as well,

The top end cars are extremely into the premium hatch/compact SUV territory
This pricing is not at all cheap, its expensive showing that good cars with good features whether its Maruti or Honda or Hyundai or VW is expensive, but since Maruti has the upper hand of sales and service network and the brand power backing it up, it will be a big success , but fact is, its not cheap, one pays for that extra for getting into a Maruti nowadays was not the case before.

Volumes come with the V and L variants, Z and Z+ have always had limited sales.
