So Maruti made an affordable hybrid compared to Prius, Camry, Civic and Lexus hybrids?
Their SHVS tech is no more than start stop system, whereas the others can travel in pure EV mode for certain km without the power from the regular IC engine.

Suzuki Swift gets a place in top ten ' 2018 car of the Year' in Japan, Volvo XC60 gets the top rakned car beating the Germans and Japanese manufacturers.

With a score of 294 points, the Swedish SUV triumphed above the BMW 5 Series (242 points) in the second place as well as the Toyota Camry (232 points). The three are then followed by the Suzuki Swift (210 points) and Honda N-Box (189 points).

All NEW 2018 Suzuki Swift to debut on 18th January 2018. Media drive scheduled.

Launching in February at Auto Expo.

2018 Swift will offer will be automatic options with both the petrol and the diesel variant.

Suzuki is also evaluating other engine options such as the new 1.5-litre diesel engine that will eventually replace the 1.3-litre Fiat-sourced unit, an SHVS variant and the three-cylinder 1-litre Boosterjet engine we currently get in the Baleno RS. ( ACI-Report)

I really wish that ACI report becomes true. 1.5 Diesel will be very refreshing and 1.0 Boosterjet with 6-speed Aisin Torque converter unit will be like a dream come true. Please Maruti Suzuki, launch them as soon as possible and look at the sales charts on fire again.

Not true
It has brake regeneration technology and at low speeds, electric at low speeds

I some how feel that these new machined alloy wheels aren't looking that great on the swift when compared to 16 inch alloys in the Euro spec Variant. I rather feel previous gen swift painted alloys look much better than this. Anyways can't comment until it gets launched.

And any information regarding the Automatic variants ? Are we gonna get 1.0 Boosterjet with an Aisin 6-speed Torque converter Automatic and 1.2 SHVS with Jatco CVT transmission ?

Here is a brief history of International Swift. I wish that Automatics come to India, instead of the AMT. Diesel AMT is understandable due to the R&D investment and other reasons behind it but atleast I wish that MSIL launches 1.2 CVT and Boosterjet TC-AT.

Lol ! It's never electric at low speeds neither a hybrid !
It's claimed that it aids acceleration with the starter motor ,that's it . Irony is that SHVS are slower in acceleration compared to their non-SHVS normal variants .

Agreed on the SHVS part it is nothing more than an idling start stop system (mild hybrid ) but the swift hybrid is complete hybrid car sporting a regular oil guzzler and a 10Kw battery motor as well capable of running entirely on battery for a particular range or when coasting completely shutting down the petrol motor that is how they got 32kmpl in the Japanese test cycle.
As for it being cheap only time will tell.

Thats because its electric motor works upto a certain speed before the diesel engine engages.......
Its not an assistive hybrid, hence the term mild hybrid
Hence increasing fuel efficiency
I know 2 people with Ertigas, one SHVS, one non SHVS
SHVS has 2 kmpl extra

What you are describing is Mahindra's microhybrid system thats only start-stop and brake regeneration

Explain this-

Integrated Starter Generator

Also referred to as an ISG, this electric motor is powered by the high capacity battery of the car. It is used supplement the engine’s power while the car accelerates. As we know, an engine burns more fuel to gain momentum at higher RPMs as compared to sustaining momentum which is done at lower revolutions per minute. And since the ISG motor aids the Ciaz mild hyrid in acceleration with electricity, the engine does not have to rev as much when the car accelerates thereby saving fuel.

Actually on the face of it both the SHVS and microhybrid are similarl technologies both using regenerative braking and idle start stop start system. Mahindra now uses a different mild hybrid tech in scorpio dubbed "intelli-hybrid " which uses a smart alternator which assist the combustion engine at lower rpms and recharges the battery at higher rpms thus aiding the fuel economy.

Seems you are missing the point
Mild Hybrids are for fuel economy
ISG motor works at low speeds and Ive had alot of cars with 1.3 MJD before
The revs in cabin at low speeds are lesser because of the ISG motor in action
Theres nothing slow about it, no one wants to do a 0-100 dash
Given that the SHVS cars all have VGT instead of FGT, they all are very responsive and ISG disengages under hard acceleration.......
