Hyundai Santro Likely To Get Minor Facelift Next Year

2020-hyundai-santro-facelift-1.jpg

The 2020 Hyundai Santro won’t likely see any performance or fuel efficiency changes besides the BSVI compliant. As for the exterior, it could gain new front grille and a redesigned bumper amongst other subtle updates. The interior may receive some added equipment to keep the offering attractive for the descending customers.

Hyundai Santro BS6 petrol engine details revealed

In order to meet the new emission norms, Hyundai will upgrade the Santro’s current 1.1-litre, four-cylinder petrol engine to meet BS6 standards. The engine will continue to produce 69hp and 99Nm of torque, even after the transition to the stricter Bharat Stage VI emissions standard. The engine will also continue to be paired with either a 5-speed manual or a 5-speed AMT automatic gearbox. Interestingly, the carmaker will most likely offer the automatic gearbox option across all variants of the Santro and not just the Magna and Sportz trims that it is currently offered with, in order to increase the model's appeal.

There are talks of the Santro getting some minor tweaks to its interior as well as exterior in order to increase appeal. However, the current car’s dashboard design and dual-tone cabin will remain more or less the same. The top-spec Santro Asta will still be equipped with a touchscreen infotainment system, a reverse camera, a rear wash/wipe, a 7.0-inch touchscreen infotainment system with Apple CarPlay, Android Auto and MirrorLink compatibility, steering-mounted controls and power-adjustable wing mirrors.

This is awesome.
I think they are referring to 1.1L 1086cc IRDE engine that came in Euro 2 (I guess) format in Original Santro Xing.
I have the same engine in my 1st gen i10 in the form of BS3.

If they can upgrade the same mechanicals all the way till BS6, they sure have a gem on their hands!

Hyundai has reportedly discontinued Santro from India. The second-gen model came as a replacement for Eon but its sales never gained enough traction. Another reason is said to be the upcoming six-airbag policy which would require re-engineering the car, making its pricing unfeasible to position in the market. (Source: Autocar India)

This will have 40-50k discounts after 4-5 months.
Wasn't expecting that they will discontinue the model altogether. Car was overpriced right from launch.

That's not a solid argument. Will maruti discontinue Alto for this reason ?
