This is the travelogue i am writing after so long time.

Place Visited: Somanthpura ,Sri Ranga Pattanam, enroute Mysore .

Route Followed: Usual Mysore route-(Left towards Mandya-Bannur-Somnathpura-Sri RangaPattana-Mysore Palace).

It was already 8 am when we were ready to leave, Not again traffic jam towards Mysore is the usual Scenario we had been through all the time.
This time we went through NICE Road, which connects to Mysore Road just before Bidadi.
It was a nice try we did.
The toll was 40 Rs for just 20 kms.
But the road was NICE.

Nice Road

The 1st Pitstop was made near Kadambam on Mysore Highway, Whch comes before Kamath.

Was nice , Ate Pongal on Makara Sankranthi.

Then headed towards Somnathpura.

The famous Keshava Temple in Somnathpur was built in 1268 A.D.

When the Hoysala rule had completed 260 years.

Built by the army commander of King Narasimha III, Somnath set up this
temple to glorify Hoysala craftsmanship.

The architect and sculptor of the famous Somnathpur temple, Jakanachari bestowed to the Keshava Temple a perfect symmetry with stone carvings.

Constructed on a raised platform it raises into a stellar shaped temple with carved pinnacles.

The three sanctums had exquisitely carved idols of Kesava, Janardhana and Venugopala.

The outer surface of the temple has star shaped folds on the walls on which

The idol of Kesava since is missing.

nice pic waiting for more . BTW you guys always lucky to find such empty road or empty road don't like me
Its just a link Road hardly 20 kms.

If this project gets continued upto Mysore then one can reach Mysore within 55 Min.

Nice pics !

Hows the road condition to Somnathpur? last time when i visited, it was really bad.
There are 2 routes to Somnathpur, Which way had you been from?

One from Malavalli which is terribly bad.
Even via Mandya-Bannur-Somanthpura roads are broken & tarred at one place.
Mix of both.

Nice pictures Mukesh. What happened to the famous idol of the Lion? Is that gone missing like the Kesava idol too?

@Peter : the last 3 pictures are the Tipu's palace.

Nice pics Mukesh! Did you visit the Ranganthittu Bird Sanctuary and Tipu sultan's palace ?
Thanks para.
Ranganthittu have visited a dozen of times.
So skipped that place.
Yes have visited Tippu's Palace, which has his tomb.
Where he was found dead.
Its called Dariya Daulat Bagh.

Thanks Avindu.
Lion was the symbol of Hoysala Dynasty.

Lion was what the commander Somanth was called & meant for his ability.

The structure at Somnathpura resembles the Belur-Halebidu Temples.
Avinash the last 3 pics is of Mysore palace.

It was ruled and build by Wodeyar's.

But was intervened and ruled by Tippu Sultan after the war.

Tippu's palace is in SriRangapattanam.
