MS Seems to have updated the unit, mine lacks all of the Warning/Alert Options you have shared.

As for the Unit, I absolutely love it! Sharing below an accessory that MGP sells which integrates into the unit;

The original intention of MS is that we fix the phone there and then power it using the USB on the unit, they even have an App that integrates phone with the unit, however the option of a reliable holder with accessible and clutter free charging more than makes it worth it for me.

Wow, I was wondering what that hole was for. Curiously popped it out and didn't seem to have any function. Now it makes sense.

Maruti sells same HU with different firmware for different models. This unit is made by Panasonic. Tried the Harmon found on VXi+ and XL-6, warning function and mileage options won't work with our variant.

Maruti is still using DOT 3 all over its portfolio. I do not understand why.
Almost everyone has shifted now to DOT 4. My Ford and Mahindra had DOT 4 since a decade back. May be I am missing something here.
God only know why. Never seen even third party garages using DOT3 in recent times. Estilo has been running on DOT4 for ages. On the other hand, Suzuki two-wheelers use DOT4.

July 2022 - Updates

First accident. A flying nincompoop on a gearless came wrong side overtaking, hit our car and fled without stopping. Our driver swerved left, avoiding a head-on collision, minimizing the damage. Only fender got damaged and slight scratch on wheel cap. It fell off, but didn't break.

First service done at Marshal Automobiles at 18th day of purchase, clocking 995 km. Just checkup, no replacement. Got SMS updates on every step of work progress, even a message asking for work approval. Got the car in the evening, washed and vacuumed. They added cable ties to all wheel caps and filled up the windscreen washer with "the pouch" and didn't charge for either. It was a small reputed FNG converted to MAS, just 15-20 minutes walk from home. As expected, came feedback SMS, followed by customer care call.

Asked to install parcel tray, but no stock anywhere in Trivandrum. Inquired with distributor directly, and they said all parcel trays are in back order.

The original dealer also called shortly, asking for the reason for the switch. When I said the proximity and convenience, they offered pickup and drop next time. I would rather would stick with Marshal till they prove unworthy as I had bad experience with both No.1 dealers (both of them claimed). Scroll through the service centre list gave insight that many of the FNGs in town were Maruti Authorized.

July 2022 - Quick Horn Upgrade

Upgrade was so quick, didn't even get time for second thought. Stock horn was Minda and surprisingly a mid-tone. Original plan was to get the missing one from the pair, but this was a shocking find. This one should sound good on a bike.

Searched deep in the bin and got a pair of blown Roots symphony and Polo OE horn, HITGT brand. Repaired the Roots pair and the high tone gave away after a couple of honks.

Paired the low tone Symphony with high tone Polo OE horn. Sounds good, like Hella.

Congrats on new car. How is the ride quality of the car in city and highways(A short distance). Dot4 boiling temp is less than Dot 3. Dot 4 needs next level of tech braking system design. So maruti is hesitant about it cost wise and design. For Indian climate Dot3 enough.

Thanks. Ride quality is surprisingly great on bad and patchy roads, yet not spongy and behaves like a normal car. Yet to hit highways. Very much numble in tight spaces. Lack of self centering steering is irritating at times.

Thanks for the update. Planning for my in laws. If you can share opinion on highways, I will spot on this car. Steering centering is the issue with many Suzuki cars their toe is nearly 1+/- 1mm and their power steering programmed in that way.

No sir, It's exactly opposite.
DOT4 boiling temp, dry as well as wet, is more than DOT 3.
Sorry I made the statement short, Dot 3 boiling point is less than Dot 4. But DOT 4 absorbs moisture at a slower rate than DOT 3 but is more susceptible to suffering a drop in its boiling point. Typically a DOT 4 brake fluid will suffer a boiling point drop of 50% once it takes in 2% moisture while a DOT 3 brake fluid would only lose 25% of its boiling point at 3% moisture contamination although it takes in moisture at a faster rate. Humid climates Dot 3 better. So as I said, braking systems which uses Dot 4 are designed complex not to absorb moisture(pipes valves and booster diaphragm etc). So some manufacturers adapt it some not citing cost and complex tech.

Had this Harmon-made XL-6 HU with me for quite some time, got from my neighbour, which was up for sale and managed to find a seller later. Same HU comes across most MSIL models. Did a trial install. Needed some more hardware for full functionality, like USB port for Android auto, mic, GPS antenna. As mentioned in previous post, basic functions like door ajar warning, seatbelt warning, low fuel won't work with this HU, might need extra connector to enable all these functions plus DTE.

Redid the steering wheel cover. Dealer job was lousy and became irritatingly loose.
