Maruti Suzuki S-Presso 1.0
Variant - VXi (O)
Colour - Metallic Granite Grey
DoD - July 2022

Prologue

EcoSport was doing its role well while a second car was inevitable since my sister and husband were working in opposite extremes from their house with my nieces studying in different schools away in the other two directions. I suggested going for a used car and Nano XTA was my pick. In-laws pursued going for new ones as they were not confident with pre-owned cars. Entrusted me to look for available cars with max budget of 5L. Options were limited.
1. Alto 800.
2. S-Presso.
3. Kwid/Redi-Go.
4. Santro.

Striking off from bottom, right in time, Hyundai pulled off the plug of Santro. Myself and BIL didn't like Hyundai much due to our own personal experiences. Renault-Nissan, too many reported problems and have to live under the mercy of ASCs, whom already had very bad reputation. Back to square-one, Maruti. We call them a tin can, but end of the day, we trust them. Alto would fall under 5L for top model. S-Presso had automatic transmission, so zeroed on that, but ended ditching that for manual as it went out of budget.

Booking to Delivery Experience

- First time, I was on my own for buying a car. Walked in during their closing hours to get an invoice to check for loan eligibility, but ended up booking the car, walking out in 5 minutes, didn't even do test drive [lol] . Booking amount was just ₹2,000.
-Thought they would treat like just another token advance to be cancelled later, but from next morning started getting messages and feedback calls, even the lady over phone was sad that I didn't test driver the car.
- Booked on June 1st. Like with EcoSport, there was huge delay in approval of the loan, even after being employed in the same nationalized bank/branch.
- Loan got approved in exactly a month, by which time, June (April) offers ended and there was slight bump in insurance, adding additional ₹16,xxx.
- Sales guy followed up every week, no nuisance.
- Delayed by 4-5 additional days as I accidentally suggested about getting the same number as the EcoSport and the Polo. Auction happens during Saturdays and approves on Monday and number plate will take a day, so the delivery was promised on Tuesday, but we were all busy, taking delivery on Thursday.
- Took delivery on July 7, 2022. Whole process took approximately an hour and a half from welcoming to leaving with the car including paperwork and explanation and installation of freebies.
- Dealer was Popular Vehicles, Killipalam. Forcing the extended warranty and referral program were the sore part in the entire process.

Bill Details

Ex-Showroom Price - ₹469,000.00

Discounts and Freebies
Corporate Offer - ₹3000.00
Additional Discount - ₹3000.00

First glimpse of the car.

Technical explanation. Told the sales guy, we know/will learn from manual the operations, but the explanation guy wasn't leaving us and was too much boasting about the features like inbuilt reverse parking sensor and ABS.

After explanation and photoshoot, we escape without lemon and ribbon [gun]

2022-07-07 13-06-32.jpg

With garage mates, the EcoSport, the GT and the hiding Suzuki Letz.

Let me be the first for the congratulations!!
Your family members will love it in the narrow city lanes.
That's a very nice colour you got. This colour gels best with the bumper design. Wishing your family many memorable miles with this car.

Congratulations on your Maruti Suzuki S-PRESSO car. Really fun to drive in the city.
IGNIS’s sister [;)] and a beautiful color.
The S-Presso is a mass market small car which will now be sold in global markets which include Latin America, Asia and Africa. I understand, the first batch of S-Presso for exports has already been shipped out.
Have a wonderful time with your cute, little car.[drive]

Congrats on the car.
Congrats bro for the new ride.
Thanks All.

wish you could have extended budget to have that ease in driving during peak traffic.
Already stretched budget, so had to settle with manual.

There was confusion between red, silver and grey. BIL is an architect and want something that gels with their house. Sister wanted red. Silver really looked good. Grey was my favourite colour. Finally settled for grey.

Exported since 2020. Seen posts in FB group from Tunisia, Egypt, Phillipines, etc.

Going in detail. Two shades of grey, two more at home.

2022-07-11 10-21-33.jpg
2022-07-11 10-21-57.jpg

Exterior design, more in line with a Kei car. The hate-it-and-hate-it looks that slowly grow on us (not everybody).

2022-07-11 10-26-51.jpg
2022-07-11 10-27-24.jpg
2022-07-11 10-27-35.jpg

Rear. No demister or wash and wipe in any variant.

2022-07-11 13-56-50.jpg

Reverse parking sensor comes mandatory. Came with only two sensors, but surprisingly covered the whole rear. It beeps even when the corner is near an obstruction. Pseudo-skid plate design. Silver cover was available in accessories. We chose not to pick any accessory.

2022-07-11 13-56-58.jpg

Fixed tow hook in rear.

2022-07-11 13-57-08.jpg

Exhaust. No chance of bottoming the rear.

2022-07-11 13-57-12.jpg

Plastic running board trim, another surprise.

2022-07-11 13-57-23.jpg

Wheels were 14 inch, another medical miracle. LXi gets 13 inch. Wheel caps also look good, no plan in throwing them away.

2022-07-11 13-57-31.jpg

MRF ZVTV ecotred

2022-07-11 13-57-46.jpg

165/70R14. Car is comfy on bad stretches.

2022-07-11 13-57-50.jpg

Old-school flap door handles retained. Carried over from first Alto. Separate key slot, present only on driver side.

2022-07-11 13-58-05.jpg

No internal adjustable mirror. Available only on VXi+. Bad move. They could've provided in the entire VXi range. Would replace these once breaks.

2022-07-11 13-58-10.jpg
2022-07-11 13-58-16.jpg

Another oldie part, since Altos.

2022-07-11 13-58-19.jpg

Front end.

2022-07-11 13-58-35.jpg

When grill is not actually the grille. Chrome/coloured bits available as add-ons.

2022-07-11 13-58-44.jpg

MS call them double barrel headlamp for sake of adding to feature list.

2022-07-11 13-58-47.jpg

Tail lamp. They didn't call it triple barrel tail lamp [lol]

2022-07-11 13-59-07.jpg

No reverse light bulb on RH side (nor option for rear fog lamp). Could've left provision for that, like in Indica.

2022-07-11 13-59-00.jpg

LH/RH. Gets bumper reflectors.

2022-07-11 13-59-20.jpg
2022-07-11 13-59-14.jpg

The original grill is in the bottle part of the bumper. Bumper is two part. Grill and bottom black part is a single bit and body-coloured bit fits on top of it.

2022-07-11 13-59-35.jpg

Toe-hook location. Removable toe hook.

2022-07-11 13-59-42.jpg
2022-07-11 13-59-58.jpg

Pseudo fog lamp pod.

2022-07-11 14-00-22.jpg

No removable cover for installing fog lamp. Indeed, not optional in any variant. After-market fog lamp available on Amazon, but need to cut the bumper. DRL available in MGA that fits the lined surface that costs 10k.

2022-07-11 14-00-17.jpg

Wipers. Need to level them as OE position looks odd to me.

2022-07-11 14-00-32.jpg

Single three-jet windscreen washer nozzle, first seen in original breadbox Wagon R.

2022-07-11 14-00-38.jpg

Antenna. Rod removable.

2022-07-11 14-00-43.jpg

Corrugated roof and a pseudo spoiler.

The key. Typical Maruti Nippon two-button remote. Second key is normal without remote.

2022-07-11 13-55-43.jpg
2022-07-11 13-55-51.jpg

Gets black fabric seats. No plans for cover as of now. Started liking fabric seats lately. Fixed head rests, not a fan of.

2022-07-11 14-02-40.jpg

Rear seats. Ingress and egress easy, especially for mom.

2022-07-11 14-02-49.jpg

Seat fabric material pattern.

2022-07-14 16-19-52.jpg

Rear and sides get vinyl. Pesky kids already made them dirty.

2022-07-11 14-03-35.jpg

Seat gets carpet covering instead of plastic.

2022-07-11 14-27-11.jpg

Jack sits under the driver seat.

2022-07-11 14-02-22.jpg

Front door pad. Dealer used some el cheapo shiner, probably coolant, which vanished in a day creating patchy look, interiors and matt exterior bits.

2022-07-11 14-03-57.jpg

Arm rest with recessed pad. Handle location felt a bit odd, a bit difficult closing holding that. Better position would have been near the lock.

2022-07-11 14-04-03.jpg

Speaker grill. Only front speakers and they sound great.

2022-07-11 14-04-16.jpg

Door pocket.

2022-07-11 14-04-12.jpg

Bottle holder can hold a litre.

2022-07-11 14-27-02.jpg

Rear door pad. No rear power window in any variant. Have to cut door pad to mount rear door speaker. Mounting location is there inside on the metal part. No wiring too though the HU supports four speakers. May be they plan in future update. No door pocket.

2022-07-11 14-02-57.jpg

Arm rest and recess similar to front. Multiple textures.

2022-07-11 14-03-10.jpg

Child lock, as usual.

2022-07-11 14-03-15.jpg

Glass rolls down all the way down. Hard to find feature nowadays. [;)]

I don't know its the photo angle or what, but in this pic, it looks like the car has 2 bumpers. One bumper is sitting over another bumper, both of same size and design.
I wont call it bad, but definitely it looks different from others.

Interiors

Dashboard. VXi+ gets touchscreen HU with Android auto and silver coloured surrounding trim. Orange-coloured S-Presso gets orange inserts.

2022-07-11 14-14-13.jpg

MGA PU cover. Cover quality is good. Need to redo stitch in proper way. MGA guys did a quick typical-dealer-fitment-kinda stitch. VXi+ gets steering mounted controls.

2022-07-11 14-05-52.jpg

Airbag comes standard. (O) variants were the ones with optional airbags. Now with normal variants discontinued, (O) variants would become regular variants.

2022-07-11 14-06-22.jpg

Passenger side airbag. Slot below is deep enough for a cell phone and nice thought.

2022-07-11 14-06-53.jpg

Center mounted speedo. Symmetry maintained for export version. HU sounds surprisingly decent with good bass and treble without jarring.

2022-07-11 14-06-00.jpg

ABC pedals. Drive-by-wire throttle.

2022-07-11 14-04-29.jpg

Lots of empty slots for future expansion. Small cubbyhole under that. OE DRL gets switch here.

2022-07-11 14-04-38.jpg

Fully closable AC vents. Silver/Orange in VXI+. Might go for silver trims later.

2022-07-11 14-04-44.jpg
2022-07-11 14-04-47.jpg

Commanding position and corners are visible like in the Sumo/Amby/800.

2022-07-11 14-04-53.jpg

The inner set of vents were weirdly designed. Won't blow straight, hindered by the steering wheel. Didn't test the passenger side. Works better when pointed away. It hits the bump and reflects properly. [roll]

2022-07-11 14-06-06.jpg

No vanity mirror.

2022-07-11 14-06-39.jpg

Dome light and IRVM. No dimming and size feels a tad smaller.

2022-07-11 14-06-45.jpg

Large glove box. Full-size tissue box and document folder fits well.

2022-07-11 14-06-59.jpg

Centrally mounted power window switches. Still search in their usual location.

2022-07-11 14-07-17.jpg

Combination switches. Shared with newer Maruti/NEXA models.

2022-07-11 14-08-46.jpg
2022-07-11 14-08-54.jpg

12V Socket with cover. VXI+ gets USB and aux ports in the second slot.

2022-07-11 14-09-52.jpg

Cubbyholes. Phone won't fit in the squarish space.

2022-07-11 14-09-00.jpg

Rear gets a cubbyhole as well, good for leaving a phone on the move, but doubt whether a bottle fit in.

2022-07-11 14-14-07.jpg

Gear and handbrake.

2022-07-11 14-09-06.jpg
2022-07-11 14-38-48.jpg

Bonnet release.

2022-07-11 14-16-36.jpg

Slot for LHD market.

2022-07-11 14-39-33.jpg

Headlight level adjuster. Cable operated. No electronics, no motors.

2022-07-11 14-04-32.jpg

Fusebox inside glovebox, but no fuse chart.

2022-07-11 14-24-39.jpg

Slot for cabin filter.

2022-07-11 14-24-45.jpg

But, no cabin filter. Can be installed with MGP.

2022-07-11 14-25-00.jpg

Slot for parking rear seat belt when folding the seat. Eliminates rattle.

2022-07-11 14-27-57.jpg
2022-07-11 14-28-10.jpg

Boot and fuel lid release.

2022-07-11 14-35-24.jpg

Tyre pressure, 32 PSI. 5J rims.

2022-07-11 14-34-53.jpg

Typical Maruti grab handle.

2022-07-11 14-39-08.jpg

Mirror trim. VXI+ gets stalk for adjustment.

Why are your fingers so wrinkled ?
Have you just washed a car or something?
Or played with a bucket of water for long. Just asking? Pardon me for being too observant .

Yes ,that a cool thing. Ask me as my Figo rear glass opens only 55-60 %.

Under the hood, K10B engine. Rumoured to be replaced with DualJet K10C soon.

2022-07-11 14-29-20.jpg

ABS actuator.

2022-07-11 14-29-26.jpg

Green coolant. Not LLC. Two-year replacement interval.

2022-07-11 14-29-32.jpg

Puny horn. High time OEMs standardize dual horns. Search revealed it to be middle pitched. Thought it was low-pitched and adding a high-pitched unit and making it a pair would solve the problem. Better idea would be to replace with Windtone.

2022-07-11 14-29-38.jpg

Amaron 34B19LMF - 32Ah battery. Model name suggests maintenance free.

2022-07-11 14-30-17.jpg

Rusted from factory. No rust prevention. Dealer didn't bother to clean or apply some jelly.

2022-07-11 14-29-55.jpg

ECU.

2022-07-11 14-30-35.jpg

Fuse box.

2022-07-11 14-30-32.jpg

Fuse puller is there. Vanished in all of our cars.

2022-07-11 14-30-42.jpg

Fuse/relay chart. Also got details of the one inside glove box.

2022-07-11 14-30-47.jpg

Found a connector inside the bonnet. Should be for the DRL.

2022-07-11 14-31-30.jpg

Cable for the headlight level adjuster.

I think I was removing the just delivered and dealer stickers just before that.

Same here as well. Gotta compare every car.
