Škoda India has announced a design contest for budding Indian car designers to design a camouflage for its upcoming “mid-size premium” sedan which will be positioned above Skoda Rapid.

Entries are open till 18th August 2021 and top-five entries shortlisted by the jury will be announced on 23rd August 2021. One final winner will be announced from among the top five shortlists.

The winner from top-five designs will get a chance to visit Prague and meet Mr.Oliver Stefani (Head of Design, Skoda Auto). Plus, the design will be used on the upcoming car and showcased across India.

The runner-up will get a design tablet and the next 3 shortlisted entries will be awarded Škoda gift bags. The contest is open for individuals above 18 Years old: Camo with Skoda.

ŠKODA AUTO India is organising a design contest where budding Indian designers are being called upon to take part and design a camouflage for its upcoming mid-size premium sedan. Entries to the contest will be open till 18th August 2021 and the top five entries shortlisted by the jury will be announced on 23rd August 2021. One final winner will be announced from among the top five shortlists.

The contest will be judged by Mr. Gurpratap Boparai, Managing Director - SAVWIPL, Mr. Zac Hollis, Brand Director - ŠKODA AUTO India and Mr. Oliver Stefani, Head of Design - ŠKODA AUTO a.s. The evaluation process will span across various criteria, which adapt to the new creative and technical requirements. Weightage will be given on each design based on innovation, aesthetics, functionality, ergonomics, durability, impact, utility, reality of production and the emotional quotient.

Speaking about the contest, Zac Hollis, Brand Director – ŠKODA AUTO India, said, “India has some great design talent. We are really excited about recognising that through this unique contest for our upcoming mid-size premium sedan. We look forward to engaging with passionate Indian minds and this is a great opportunity for imaginative expression. We have already launched the first mid-size SUV, ŠKODA KUSHAQ, which is a testament to our commitment to the Indian market. KUSHAQ was designed in close collaboration between our teams in the headquarters and India, and the upcoming mid-size premium sedan follows this practice. The camouflage contest is a great way to kick-off activities for the second global reveal planned by us this year.”

Participation is open to any individual above 18 years of age. The contest is extended to design studios, companies, universities, design students and design professionals from India. They can participate in the contest by registering and submitting their design online on www.camowithskoda.com

The winner from the top 5 shortlisted designs will get an opportunity to travel to Prague to meet the Head of Design, ŠKODA AUTO a.s. - Mr. Oliver Stefani, at the ŠKODA headquarters. In addition, the winning design will be applied on the upcoming ŠKODA offering, and will be showcased across the country. The runner – up will get a design tablet and the next 3 shortlisted entries will be awarded ŠKODA gift bags.

I like the rohit bhandwalkar design, the dark and light triangular pattern tries to obfuscate the design elements, curves and edges on the car. the Skoda designs are pretty edgy and angular so this design will be able to hide the car better.

Skoda has declared Shreyas Karambelkar from Badlapur, Maharashtra as the winner of this contest.

ŠKODA AUTO India has announced the winner of the Camouflage design contest after receiving an overwhelming response from the budding Indian designers. Shreyas Karambelkar from Badlapur, Maharashtra has been awarded with the winner’s title by the esteemed jury. Shreyas will travel to Prague to meet the Head of Design, ŠKODA AUTO a.s. Mr. Oliver Stefani, at the ŠKODA headquarters. In addition, the winning design will be applied on the testing prototype of the upcoming ŠKODA SLAVIA midsize premium sedan, under the India 2.0 project.

Ben Stewart from Tirunelveli, Tamil Nadu has been chosen as the runner – up and wins a design tablet. The other three finalists will be awarded ŠKODA gift bags. This unique design contest was announced in August wherein the participants were asked to submit a design of a camouflage for ŠKODA AUTO’s upcoming mid-size premium sedan in India. More than 200 entries were received from across India for the contest which was open till 18th August 2021. Before announcing the winner, the top five shortlisted designs were passed through the production, durability, and applicability processes.

Mr. Zac Hollis, Brand Director – ŠKODA AUTO India, said, “We at ŠKODA AUTO India congratulate Shreyas Karambelkar for winning the “Camouflage with ŠKODA” contest. His design reflected a homogenous blend of Indian and Czech art cultures. We want to congratulate the runners-up for putting up a healthy competition, and the designs submitted kept the jury contemplating for a long time. We would also like to thank all the participants for coming forward and making the contest a success.”

The concept of Shreyas winning design is a mixture of Indian motifs - the Peacock and Lotus, Czech glass art, and Cubism. The colors used in the design are warm and represent the Indian culture.

The concept of Ben’s winning design is inspired by the simplicity of basic regular shapes, themed over the contrasting ŠKODA colour palette.

The contest was judged by Mr. Gurpratap Boparai, Managing Director - SAVWIPL, Mr. Zac Hollis, Brand Director - ŠKODA AUTO India and Mr. Oliver Stefani, Head of Design - ŠKODA AUTO a.s. The evaluation process spanned across various criteria, which were led by creative and technical expertise. Each design was judged for its innovation, aesthetics, functionality, ergonomics, impact, utility and the emotional quotient. The contest was open to any individual above 18 years of age and was extended to design studios, companies, universities, design students and design professionals.
