Hi guys as you all know had been to North Kerala on my Hawk on 13th Feb.

Actual plan was to visit a marriage @ Mangalore.

Followed by visit to Payyanur(Kerala) to relatives place.

Route: Mangalore-Kanhagad-Payyanur-Kannur(Payambalam Beach)-Muzhapilangad(Drive In Beach)-Thalaserry.

Route Partner: MMI Vx140s. It never let us ask anyone for route.

After attending a function at Payyanur, we halted at Kannur.

Re: Hawk on prowl to North Kerala(Payyanur-Kannur-Muzhapilangad-Thalassery)

Day 1: From Payyanur reached Payyambalam beach.

Spent an hour and half near the beach.

Then we were in search of a good hotel for the dinner.

On MMI it was Malabar residency for dinner.

The rates for stay was way towards North.

So we had dinner, and headed to Tamarind (K.T.D.C).

Which is located near Police Station Club House Kannur.

The rooms were good.

That day we rested for the day.

Day2: We asked at the desk for a decent hotel, he directed us to Indian Coffee House.

Took Kerala Parota & Egg Curry, it was yummy.
But a bit sweet to our taste, as we prefer spicy food.

Aah wish i would have consulted you...

But there were veggies also.

So a mix of both.

Yes we visited Raravis in Thalserry, it was an excellent lunch that day.

We skipped Paris Residency in Thalaserry.

S.T.Angelo Fort was on cards for the day on Day2, it was a bright day.

Folks were tired a bit for the day.

Then we had some pineapple near fort.

It was very interesting to see the pineapples being stuffed in Vinegar+Corriander+Chilly Water.

It was refreshing.

We were in search for some more places.

As it was sunny the other day, folks were rather enjoying inside the car than outside.

We moved to Muzhapilangad, it was a Drive in Beach.

We had a good drive @ Muzhapilangad.

Left over pics of S.T.Angelo Fort.

Muzhapilangad Beach was really amazing.

Forgot to mention Hawk & Xing were there in this trip.

The route leading to drive in beach was too short, we took a right passing through 2 railway crossing.

There was no signboard at all.

Thanks to MMI for pinpoint shortcuts and leaded us to exact location.

From ST.Angelo Fort GPS leaded us through a shortest route to Muzhapilangad.

Within no time we were on track.

An auto was speeding and almost braked .

This was in the interiors of Muzhapilangad beach.

Speeding without seeing the road, commendable drivers.

I was honking hoping someone would be coming in opposite direction and it did help.

In Kerala a bus overtakes you, also Auto, but you can't until they give way till the next stop.

We already got a glimpse of an accident on the way from Payyanur to Kannur.

Contd....

So it was 1 & half day trip, we needed to hurry back to Mangalore as the next day we had to attend a function @ Ankola.

So we missed Bekal fort, which will be done during next visit.

We had an excellent lunch on 2nd day @ Raravis, Thalassery.(Next to Mosque).

As there was no parking available at Paris Residency.

We purchased some tropica's chips(White chips) @ Thalassery.

That concludes my trip.

Last Set of pics @ Drive In Beach.

Oh. So you were in my city?! great. I hope you enjoyed your trip.
Well, it's a good thing that you visited muzhapilangad beach. It's one of the longest drive-in beach in Asia. [:)]

And my house is just 2.5kms away from Indian Coffee House. [:)]

a specific query related to your MMI GPS.

can you choose between alternative routes?

i had this problem with nokia MAPS where i chose an alternative route which was one km lengthier than the city route but the voice navigation kept on suggesting me to take a U- turn and proceed with the busy route.

it was only when i went farther away i was guided well.

There is an option where in by default MMI is set to shortest route preference.

If there is one way or no entry, its quick enough to reroute to nearest route.

There are other routes to avoid toll booth etc, but i have not changed the settings.

It helped us a lot while we were returning from S.T.Angelo fort, it took us to the highway from shortest route and we were on highway in no time.
