Zipping To Queen Of Hills (The Nilgiris) On My Honda Activa 125!

Some are born with a silver spoon they say. Perhaps i was born with an ignition key ! Not joking but the truth. I have been this way all through my life so far. Always keen and eager to hit the road. The smallest of errand & i would be off on my bicycle happily riding around my locality as a kid. I had literally stolen my dad's Lamby 150cc scooter, disconnected the speedo cable and did a to and fro between Bangalore & Madras just to drop my college pal there. Such was the enthusiasm to ride which is still prevalent in me. After all old habits die hard !

Purchased an Activa 125 drum version, rode it just to complete the running in. serviced at Silicon Honda & bolted off towards NH209 with wind blowing in on me, cheerful as ever & singing along all through till my first pit stop at Geetha Bhavan Hotel in Kollegal.

Continued to enjoy the ride through Chamarajnagar & Dimbam ghat sections to reach Bannari Amman for tea.

The odo reads 251 kms here.

Rode on further via Bhavani sagar, Sirumugai & Metupalayam to reach Kotagiri in the Nilgiris. I usually stay at my friend's cottage namely Thillai Gardens.

Ride, Ride & Ride on...





Smelt burning wire from underneath. The wiring harness had started to melt over the hot muffler & somehow managed to ride till Coonoor. A car mechanic luckily taped it over and blamed the dealership for improper routing of the wiring harness. As it was a sunday the authorised Honda centre in Coonoor was closed.


Bid farewell to my cottage pal, packed up & exited The Nilgiris via Metupalayam & Bhavani Sagar.

Came across this cute wild fella with his mum a little ahead of Bull & Bush resort near Hasanur.



Awesome grub for the tired traveller at hotel Nijaguna Residency.



Left Chamarajnagar to reach Bangalore via Kanakapura. Hope you all enjoyed reading this lengthy travelogue !
