In the last one and a half year this was my 3 trip to Mountain. I have already done Gangtok, Nainital and now trip to Bhutan.Like always I have not done much planning for this trip. Gone through few travelogues from various sites. I was mainly worried about Kolkata siliguri part as last time during my Sikkim trip I have faced hell lot of problem.
Bhutan trip was one of the best trip in my life so far.
We have planned this trip suddenly. My wife is a school teacher so her summer vacation was going on and the same with my daughter so we have chosen this time for our road trip. Next question where to go as we have only 8 days in our disposal .After lots of brain storming we have decided to go to Bhutan, The Land of Thunder Dragon.
Preparation for the trip-As we planned to go to Bhutan with our own car (Red Angel) so we have to have 2 permit ,one is for us and another for Car. There is a provision of getting permit for travelers from Kolkara itself from Bhutan embassy which is located in 6, Mall Road ,South Dum Dum, Kolkata, West Bengal 700080.I went there 10 days before from my schedule date of departure to submit my application form but got to know that they have stopped issuing permit till 10th June.So I have no other option but to take permit from Phuntsholing itself. Documents required for permit for travelers are
1. Application Form which can be downloaded from Website
2. Passport/Voted Id photo copy with Original
3. Passport size photographs
And for car permit you required-
1. Permit for travelers
2. RC book photo copy with original
3. Pollution certificate photo copy with Original
4. Insurence copy with Original
5. Hand written application requesting for permit in A4 page
D-Day
Plan to start as early as possible so fixed the time 2.30AM but started at 3AM.As advised by fellow members I took Bengal to Bengal route to get rid of panagarh and Dalkhola jam.We ware 4 adults and 4 year kid and my reliable Red Angel (Swift) was all set to hit the road and in no time we reached Shaktigarh and our first break for Tea.
I took the exact same route given below

http://www.google.co.in/maps/dir/Kolkata,+West+Bengal+700001/Siliguri,+West+Bengal+734001/@24.6374936,85.4823415,7z/data=!3m1!4b1!4m14!4m13!1m5!1m1!1s0x39f882db4908f667:0x43e330e68f6c2cbc!2m2!1d88.363895!2d22.572646!1m5!1m1!1s0x39e44114f5441dcd:0xdeb5c4702063edff!2m2!1d88.3952861!2d26.7271012!3e0

The road is quite plain and simple and gmap is also showing this route as default now. Took the lunch at Hotel Golden Park at Malda.Reached Siliguri at around 4.30PM and checked into Hotel Monarch Aachal.Hotel is very nice and in NH34 itself, just 3 km before city center. Food was good.
