This a private park, owned by Mr. Varkey Veliyath. Mr. Varkey belongs to family with Agriculture backgrounds. The park is on the way to Athirapally waterfalls. The directions to the park is made on each and every electrical post, and clearly indicate the way. The whole park in less than 2 acres of fertile land.

Mr. Varkey made the land in three layers. Underground layer, mostly for tunnels and water wells. Artificial Upper Layer, above the ground for trees with roots extended till the soil. Entry fee is 35rs, and special package for groups. The park is little away from the main road (athirapally road), and on the bank of Chalakudy river. The land is fertile, and have multiple ponds, big trees and home for many habitats.

He spent over 15 years to make this park on this shape. He is also known to poems, and write once when free. He made a make shift house on the big tree. He tries to make the message of community living. Rats, Birds, and Eagles take food from same plate. Upon his noise, the white rats come from nowhere.

The first attraction is an Eagle. He said, the cage of the eagle is open. He got the eagle having some injuries, and got it treated. He got some wild spider. He also have one stuffed giant spider, He said, once it was an habitat there. He got, similar other items inside the house. Check his house, photo in above posting, got one tree planted on roof top without having any soil. He tries to make the message on his Maruti800, and the bike.

Exactly. Stay tuned for more.

Check his house in the earlier photo. Lots of items explains the importance of Agriculture. He got a water wheel, reconditioned, and preserved for display. These water wheels are once used for pumping water to paddy fields. Check his motor bike, with banners emphasizing importance of agriculture. He plant seeds on soil filled pipes. Once the roots comes out, gradually removes the pipes. Some roots are healthy, and will be retained. Other roots will be removed. Simple logic. Hence such trees grows from two meter high with deep rooted roots to hold the tree.

In one cage, hen, white rats, and eagles live in harmony. Interestingly, these cages are semi opened. All birds, and animals are free to move inside the park. Mr. Varkey showed us different nests with young ones inside. The tunnel to underground water well. He got different variety of fishes.

He received National Record from Limca Book, for single handed development of an Innovative Nature Park. Also, received national Award for Nature Conservation from Society for Research and Initiatives for Sustainable Technologies and Institutions(SRISTI).

Many school managements arranging visits to this park as part of their tours. Mr. Varkey enjoy explaining and describing about the things created at the park to visiting students. He has not appealed for any fund for his park managements. He survive with the nominal entry fee. Please allocate more time, if you want to learn and understand all the interesting items. We took around 2hrs. Mr. Varkey explained most of his attractions. I was more on understanding his ideas, and forgot to take photos. only few photos. My family also listened and enjoyed his explanations. Me too enjoy little agriculture once when free.

Mr. Varkey keep one packet of bread while illustrating his attractions. I took only few photos, spent time more on listening.

2. State Museum and Zoo, Thrissur

State Museum and Zoo, Thrissur is a 13.5-acre Zoo that opened in 1885 in the heart of Thrissur City, Kerala, India. It is one of the oldest Zoos in the country, and is home to the wide variety of animals, reptiles, and birds. Entry fee 5rs for Adults, 3rs for kids, 3 Still Cameras, and 500rs for Video Camera. All days of the week from 10am till 6.30pm, except Monday.

We went there on Monday, and found it is closed. Then returned on Tuesday, and welcomed with heavy rain. We could not explore much due to heavy rain. This is a must see place. The reptile section is having lots of tenants. This is one of the oldest zoo, just check these old trees. I could not make myself room to capture it in a frame.

Did not take photos of reptiles section. It was continuously raining, and difficult to move around due to slush.
