Landed at Schiphol Airport in Amsterdam, Netherlands on 5th April early morning.
We were on a visit to Hannover in Germany.
One day in Amsterdam and then took a train to Hannover.
It was a pleasant journey through a scenic route with picture perfect views.

It was interesting to view the Western European village life (even though) from a fast moving train.

Joggers and Cyclists on their routine through the peaceful country lanes.
Senior and middle aged citizens on week end gatherings with their dogs who arrived on estate type cars with special arrangement for dogs.

Horses, cows and sheep grazing on the green meadows.
Hens on the green free range farms.

Taking good pictures was difficult because of glass window and the train speed.

Amsterdam was lively on a Saturday afternoon with influx of tourists from neighboring countries.
In Hannover, it was a real treat for auto enthusiasts.

Amsterdam is a great City but it is small and most of the City center and down town can be covered by walk.

Bicycle or bike as some call it is very popular in Amsterdam. This place is considered as the most bicycle friendly city in the world.
We can see cycles parked in a unique two tier parking on the side of streets and where ever space is available.
Most of them are locked with additional chain.
The chances that your Bicycle got stolen is also very high in this city.

One guy who was in our team kept his DSLR Camera bag on the parapet of the window of a closed shop by the side of a main road. He was taking some pictures and within 3 minutes his bag vanished.
There were hardly any people on that foot path at that time.

Say Cheese
Cheesy Sights.
Netherlands is one of the largest producer and Exporter of Cheese.
No doubt after seeing those vast green meadows along the country side with grazing cows.
Cheese - and they come in all colours - Green, red, pink, yellow, blue, brown and what not.

Excellent pics AS, glued.
Regarding the cycles or bikes as known not just the cycles they lock with wired ones but you would be surprised even the saddles are being locked with those wired ones. They too are being on targets if not locked.

Thanks Vijay.

Continuing with Amsterdam pictures.

Dam Square:
5 to 10 min walk from the Central Station or Centraal Station as they call it.
Dam Square is a happening place with a large crowd gathering always.
In that Saturday evening, we saw people roaming with white pillows and after some time a pillow fight started. It was an intense, free for all event (with the same fervor as a holi celebration here). Within minutes there was dust, cotton and feathers from the torn pillows all over the place.

From the Dam Square.
Royal Palace (Koninklijk Palace) - Royal family don't live here any more but this 17th century Dutch Royal Palace is used for official receptions.

The National Monument (Nationaal Monument op de Dam) - World War II memorial - seen opposite to the Royal Palace across the road with the Grand Hotel Krasnapolsky as back ground.

Madam Tussauds - world famous museum for wax works.
Skipped the museum due to a very long queue.
