Hey guys i did a short trip to Goa last month on 4th of September.

The route taken was Bangalore-Tumkur-Arsikere-Kadur-Shimoga-Jog Falls-Gerusoppa-Kavalakki-Honnavar-Ankola-Karwar-Ponda(Goa)-Panjim.

It was a superb butter smooth road all the way.

The toll paid during the entire journey was (20 Nelamangala Expressway) (JAS Toll Booth crossing towards Tumkur 33) 53*2 - 106/- + Entry tax in Goa 250/-

I had done the same route way back in July 2009, on my maiden trip with Hawk all in a rainy day.

This time weather was all bright and sunny, with less traffic and no toll all the way till Goa.

Day 1: We left the Bangalore at 6 am, had stopped for breakfast at Kamat Upachar Doabspet. Then we took the Tumkur-Arsikere route as per AR Ram sir's recommendation. Thank you sir for this recommendation.

Thanks to Mr.Alok Gunhal and Parag Sachania from HVK group for the latest updates of the route.

Our stop at Mathura Paradise, service has gone down drastically after 4 years.
No decent toilets.
Till now we haven't found any decent hotel for food in Shimoga.

We reached Shimoga and stopped for lunch around 11:45 am.

After some what OK lunch at Mathura Paradise, we headed to Jog.

Jog is all exciting in rains, the rainy drive gives you a lot of greenery view all the way. And the beauty of forests in rains is beyond our imagination.

The greeneries were so pleasing way back in July 2009.

On the way to Jog.

@mukeshus

Thanks for your words. Yes indeed, the onward route is much better in terms of road condition, traffic, greenery and toll. Drawback is the choice of restaurants.

Much awaited travelogue is on the way.

Good pictures [clap].

I think during your visit Jog Falls were not much crowded, and less water too.

Contd....

After having some delicious pineapple, the weather at one stretch was changing drastically.

It rained heavily before entering Jog only for 600 mts, then there was no rain what so ever near Jog.

Route Condition: When you near the curvy downhill road of jog has few rough patches, which is hardly felt.

And road has been dug and filled with mud at few stretch.

Heard from locals that it was 4 days since rains had stopped, atleast the falls didn't disappoint us.

The route via Jog towards Gerusoppa, was one of the exciting drive.

We left Jog at 3:15 PM and reached Gerusoppa at 3:58 PM.

Then we deviated towards Honnavar.

The road was narrow, occasional sudden traffic(Huge ones).

Some NWKRTC buses ply on this route.

It was raining heavily on this entire stretch of ghat.

Entering Gerusoppa Ghat.
114-IMG_0451.jpg

Hawk loving the Cadbury's, only 1 such turn is in this conditon, no potholes anywhere on this stretch, apart from this.
117-IMG_0454.jpg

The stretch between Virajpet towards Madikeri was in such condition in rains in 2009.
118-IMG_0455.jpg

Loved this stretch specially.
119-IMG_0456.jpg
View point, it was isolated place, so we didn't stop.

For the first time in that day we filled the diesel for 500, around 20 litres was still there in the vehicle all the way from Bangalore. That is when the 1st VMS came from hawk "You are running on Reserve fuel".

This was just before Kamat in Ankola.

The right turn is where you head towards Yellapur-Kirwati Forest( Route from Hubli NH4.)

Day 2:

Yes this time we had to pay toll of 250/- which is free till 4 hours if one returns from the date of issue.
This is good for daily vehicles which carry vegetables from Belgaum and Milk vans.

004-004.jpg

The toll booth is just a manual one, manned by 2-3 peoples.

Yes they give you 10 Rs coins as change.

Diesel in Bangalore and in Goa, got it filled to the Brim.

That was the reason we had filled for 500/- earlier.
003-003.jpg

Yes we headed to the temple of Ramnathi in Ponda. As there was some ritual on this day.

All those who don't like temples, ignore this post, esp TSI Vipul.

Now the first half was spent this way.

As we had covered Baga Beach, Miramar, Calangute, Anjuna, Vagator on various occasions, we didn't want to go the same place.

We had missed Naval Museum last time as it was on Monday.

But this time we wanted to visit this at any cost.

Next to come, 2nd half in Naval Museum and Bogmallo Beach, followed by evening in Panjim streets....

Stay tuned....

Some teaser pic....

Good coverage and beautiful pictures.

At Mangeshi Temple, did you park your vehicle almost a km away and had to walk to the temple?

Waiting for the coming episodes and pictures
