My family & I love traveling especially long drives. So this year we decided trip to Thane-Coonoor-Kodaicanal-munnar-Kuamarkom-Periyar-Thane. Approx 3600Km up & down.
The drive spanned of 12 days. My planning started 2 months in advance, like route, condition of road, night drive is safe or not, special hotel bookings as we having our 13 years dog with us.
One week prior car given for servicing to Modi huyndai,Thane. There was no much work as we done car servicing regularly.
There is last minute changed in our plan, so my mother, sister, niece & aunty joined directly to ooty via coimbtoore by flight.
We decided our route Thane-Pune-Kolhapur-Belgaum-Hubli-Benglure via nice road- Mysore-Bandipur National park-Ooty- Coonoor (Approx 1272km)
On 16th Nov I, my dad & our dog started our drive at 1700hrs pickup my brother-in-law at 1715hrs from airoli and stopped for tea/coffee break after passing katraj ghat at 1930hrs. Again we stopped & had our dinner at Sai international near Kolhapur at 2330hrs. After crossing Kolhapur we fill up full tank & straight to hubli now my brother-in-law was incharge.
First time in my last ten years of driving we used car heater in between hubli to chitradurga, as inside temperature was very cold & came to know actual use of Car heater.
Road condition is good till Tumkur. After Tumkur work in progress, two lane road & some part of road diversion to be taken.
0800hrs done tank full at bengluru and stopped at Kamat Upchar after bengluru-mysore nice road as we was too hungry. While crossing bandipur national park we saw family of three elephant, deer & gaur (Indian bison) eating grass & one mother elephant crossing road with her baby. After crossing bandipur at 1400hrs now most amazing part of our journey started, 36 hairpin bend stretches before ooty. I really enjoy this part. Finally at 1600hrs we reached at coonoor.

Again on 26th Nov morning my brother-in-law & aunty took off from flight from Kochi & our journey begins at 0925hrs from Kumarkom. Now this times my mom, dad, sister, niece, our dog & me with our 12 years old Hyundai santro.
While coming back we decided to come from Kumarkom-kumily-Periyar-Cumbum-Theni-Dindigul-Karur-Salem-Bengluru-Hubli-Belgaum-Kolhapur-Thane route (Approx 1634 km)
We left kumarkom at 0925hrs & reached Periyar tiger reserve at 1300hrs with three halts. First at ICICI ATM, second for cold drink, & third for shopping.
At 1530 hrs we start our actual final drive back to home. We stopped at Cumbum for our tea/coffee break at 1700hrs. We reached dindigul at 2130hrs & had our dinner.
After dindigul to till hubli road is good expressway of four lanes. While passing from bengluru do not enter bengluru city. Follow Mysore road via nice road till Tumkur toll booth.

Our travel itself was made possible by the contribution of many people who have done this. Across many websites this information available is fantastic and very encouraging. Not possible with out of Hyundai santro. As a slogan “It’s the complete family Car”.
