Went for a drive to BR hills and nearby areas. The route taken was Bangalore -> Kanakapura -> Malavalli -> Kollegal -> Yelandur -> BR hills.

The roads were good up to Yelandur (enjoyed the drive and the scenery) and then we had to pass through some small villages. The ghat road to BR Hills was a disappointment.

Bangalore to Yelandur.....

Highway ranger, i think you drove early morning to beat the traffic.

I remember that lake is on the way to Nanjangud right?

However even i should do this route next time i visit B.R.Hills.

I end up doing the Bidadi route every time.

I did only Himadgopalaswamy Hills, B.R.Hills is pending for a long time.

How long it took to reach B.R.Hills, did you stay there or returned the same day?

Excellent pics[thumbsup]

Thanks enigne

Thanks Raja. It was a 495 kms drive. Surely you can expect many more pictures.

Thanks Mukeshus.

We did start early. (5:30 am). We made a mistake of going through silkboard -> Banshankari -> Kanakapura main road (NH 209). Metro work is going on in that stretch. We should have taken Bannergatta road -> NICE road -> Kanakapura road or Hosur road -> NICE road -> Kanakapura road.

We didn't touch Nanjangud. The lakes were on the way to Kanakapura on NH 209. They were Gabbadi kere (lake) and Harohalli kere (lake).

We reached BR hills by 11:15 am. En route we took a deviation to visit Ganalu falls.

We did stay overnight at BR hills.

Reached BR Hills around 11:30 am. Had lunch and around 3:00 pm, started another slow drive beyond BR hills. BR Hills -> K.Gudi forest Check post -> forest exit check post -> K.Gudi forest Check post -> BR Hills. Spotted some wild life. The roads were OK/good for most part - bits of broken roads - nothing really bad. Returned around 6:30 PM.

Hi Highway Ranger,

Excellent photos. Did you stayed in BR Hills? If so, can you please share your accomodation details and experience of stay.

What is the camera that you are using?

@rajscorpion

Thanks

We stayed at a place called Rajathadri Hill Villas. Nothing much to rave about. Had all the basic amenities, clean and spacious room, Veg food delivered to the room, 24 hours hot water, DTH TV and car park. It was located in a quiet place. Did not have any bad experience. It was a pleasant experience.

I use a Nikon D90 with 18- 105 VR kit lens.

Thanks. There are a lot of great places we can explore right here. We just need to get the timing right.

We left BR hill by 6:30 AM. We had initially planned to start earlier, but somehow overslept. And as we were leaving these guys insisted that we have atleast coffee before we leave and we had to wait 5 minutes for that.

We again took the route down to K.Gudi ( we liked the drive the previous evening) -> Chamrajanagar -> Yelandur -> Kollegal -> Malavalli -> Kanakapura -> NICE road -> Hosur road

BR Hills to Chamrajanagar.

Exceptionally amazing clicks man!! I really likes the B&W road pic from the first set of pics. Just a tiny suggestion, just smudge the registration plate of your car, which reminds me to compliment you that you have a wonderful looking ride.

@freakdude

Thank you. Initially I used to photoshop the number plate. Guess I am getting lazy these days.
