Just completed the restoration of my 1998 Yamaha RX135

Background:

Here is the ownership review 14 Year young devil

And I got another RX recently and started the restoration 1997 Yamaha RXG

Unfortunately due to some reasons this restoration was put on hold and started stripping down the RX135. All the spares which I bought for RXG is used for 135 restoration.

Few snaps. Will add the complete list of spares and detailed cost breakup soon.

Nice quick job there. The Autopal headlamp nacelle looks good in isolation but I feel the original RX headlamp looks the most proportionate. The rear non OEM shocks do not help to maintain the stance of your RX.

Please share a detailed cost breakup and details of the jobs done on your motorcycle.

Thanks dude.

Got your point and agree on the same. But Non-OE and aftermarket parts were of my liking and wanted this bike to stand distinguished in the crowd. Pulsar shocks will keep the bike higher about an inch (you could have noticed the same in my RX100 thread too) My other bike will be in Stock looks.

Please share a detailed cost breakup and details of the jobs done on your motorcycle.
Attaching the detailed cost breakup. Ended up spending 49k.

RX135 COST.jpg

And regarding the list of job done,
1) Engine & powertrain:
- Rebored (2OS)
- New piston, rings, connecting rod
- Replaced all the bearings and seals
- Center case is brushed (thought of buffing, but for no reasons given away that idea)
- Magneto case is brand new (old one was little defective near the clutch push rod helix)
- Other cases & head were painted in dark grey (metallic)
- Complete clutch assembly is brand new
- New set of sprockets and chain

2) Frame:
- Tinkered, nothing major as there was no bend / issues
- Painted with 2 coats of primer and 2 coats of shiny black

3) Tank & Shields:
- Tank had no rust inside (thankfully)
- Shields were brand new
- Painted in blue

4) Silencer:
- The one fitted in bike is taken from my RXG.
- Original silencer is yet to be plated.
- Inner core is brand new (RX135)

5) List of non-OE / aftermarket parts
- Handle bar (Suzuki Shogun)
- Rear Shock absorbers (Pulsar)
- Switch assy (YBX)
- Front mudguard (YBX)
- Head lamp (after market with Ambassador reflector)
- Horns (from Minda, similar to Apache RTR)
- Stickers (RXZ)

RS. 49000! The before pics do not give an impression that the RX required that much investment. How many kays on the odo before restoration?

Take care while getting the silencer plated. Aftermarket platers would more often than not give you 'needle holes' on the plated parts for free.

Even I didn't expect 49k for restoration, but I feel it is worth as the bike is almost brand new. Crossed 76k on odo before restoration.

Looks cool. Am sure it attracts more than its fair share of eyeballs on the road.

The photographs of spare part tags posted by you mention the date of manufacture as 2013 [clap]. So they are still making all this stuff. Where did you procure all these spares from? Could you post the contact details and address of the spare part dealer? By any chance is an original 100cc block, piston, crank, and connecting rod available with him?

Thanks Sam.

Genuine RX spares are still available (of course, a lot of fake products in OE packing too) Got spares from variety of dealers,
1) Chennai Two Wheelers (P) Ltd, Mudichur Road, Tambaram
2) Yamaha authorised spare parts dealer (forgot the name), GP Road, Chennai
3) VRC Automobiles, GP Road, Chennai
4) Mahalakshmi Automobiles, Mudichur Road, Tambaram
5) Sri Krishna Automobiles, Urapakkam
and few from Coimbatore

None of the above dealers stock RX100 block / piston but Chennai Two Wheelers can source them by placing order.

I once had a great passion for the RX100, great bike. My friend once bought a second hand Rx100 for 19k in 2008, that was one hell of a performer.

Confused!! Which color should I go with?
1) Blue - matching the body color
2) Silver - matching the YAMAHA & YEIS stickers
