New All-Terrain Vehicle (ATV) Launches in India

An All Terrain Vehicle (ATV), in simple words is the fusion of an automobile and a motorcycle. It runs on four wheels, has a saddle like that on a motorcycle and is given direction by a handlebar. These are recreational vehicles primarily used on off-road surfaces. Harison Motors (HMPL), an Indian-overseas joint venture has launched a range of ATVs in India, under the brand name 'Funty'. The Funty family currently has four models with engine capacities ranging from 50 to 200cc which will be available in western India initially, imported as CBUs. However, HMPL is setting up an assembly plant in Maharashtra which will start rolling out 15,000 ATVs by March 2012. Apart from ATVs, HMPL also plans to launch motorcycles and scooters in the Indian market, which will be mass produced at their plant along with the ATVs from next year. The first exclusive showroom of the Funty will be operational by June end in Satara, Maharashtra. The Funty range is priced between Rs One to Three lakhs and needs no driving licence or R.T.O registration.

funty!! name sounds weird but ATVs are pure fun vehicles only..they cost a lot and i cant think any uses of them except fun on beach or traveliing in your farmhouse!!

Nebula Automotive has launched a new range of ATVs in India including a first ever three wheeled ATV, called Trike. Quick excerpt from official press release:

Nebula Automotive offers a full spectrum of vehicles ranging from 110cc Junior/Uniage ATVs to 800cc twin seaters ideal for serious off-road enthusiasts. The three-wheel Trike ATV features a 300cc water-cooled engine with electric start. It has a 12-liter fuel capacity and can seat two people. The Nebula Trike is currently priced at Rs. 7,77,000.

The Nebula HS800is a twin seater ATV and has an 800cc water-cooled V-Twin 8-valve engine with fuel injection. It can attain a maximum speed of 70 km/hr. and has a fuel capacity of 30 liters. The HS800 can switch between 2WD and 4WD modes and is priced at Rs. 16,50,000. The Nebula AX700 is a single seater ATV with a 686cc liquid-cooled EFI engine and a 21-liter fuel capacity. It features CVT transmission, front and rear disc brakes, a 3-way locking differential and has 2WD and 4WD modes. It is available for Rs. 12,00,000.

Used for recreational, sports, and patrolling purposes, some of the Nebula ATVs are undergoing military testing for future use in the forces. Nebula ATVs are assembled in Pune and are priced between Rs. 90,000 and Rs. 23,00,000. Nebula Automotive also provides after-sales service and maintenance on a pan-India basis and is selecting qualified franchisees to represent the brand via a countrywide dealer network.
