Suzuki is all set to launch entry level cruiser to take on Avenger 150. Powered with 150cc engine borrowed from Gixxer, might be tuning more better for highways.

Leaked brochures and images are floating around the internet.

The Suzuki Intruder 150, as the name suggests, takes its design inspiration from the larger Intruder cruiser that is sold in international and Indian market. The Suzuki Intruder 150 gets LED projector headlight, aerodynamic fuel tank and LED tail light. While the brochure images are not clear, it can be seen that the Suzuki Intruder 150 gets a generous bodywork that looks gaudy. Something that we can confirm only when we get to see the motorcycle in flesh. The Suzuki Intruder 150 also gets a twin-port exhaust, similar to what is offered on the Suzuki Gixxer series.

Powering the Suzuki Intruder 150 is believed to be the 154.9cc single-cylinder unit that does duty in the Gixxer range. The power and torque out of this motor is 14.8PS and 14Nm respectively. While the state of tune might be retained for the Suzuki Intruder 150, the company might also look at tweaking the performance to make it more suitable for highways. The Suzuki Intruder 150 will directly compete against the Bajaj Avenger 150 in India.

Importantly, the brochure of the Suzuki Intruder 150 also mentions of ABS as a safety feature. Similar, to the Gixxer series, we assume the Intruder 150 too might feature ABS in the top-spec variant.

Looks like the launch is near, otherwise, they would not be riding around without camouflage. The bike would be a good competitor to the Avenger 150 and the Bajaj V150, but I dont think many would like the styling. Also, a full fairing and such bulk has not gone too well in the 150cc segment. People are usually looking for a reliable, easy to repair and park bike for commuting than usually for riding long distances. The Avenger Street with its lowered handle was a hit, as it was a better performer in the city as compared to the earlier version. Even for the Intruder, it looks like they have kept the handle low, to give easier maneuverability in the city.

The tires are quite a mismatch with the rest of the bike which already is quite disproportionate. The view from the front angle, as shown in the first picture in the brochure is the only angle in which the bike looks great. From most of the other angles, it looks like quite an after thought. Considering the bigger Suzuki Intruders do not come with full fairings, here it looks like the fairing is given as an attempt to hide the small engine and make the bike look big. I hope we would soon have a version of the same without the fairing, which in my opinion would look much better.

The official Page is also up and price is not updated yet, as I am typing this comment.

INTRUDER 150

My Opinion! Abit pricey for 150cc with hideous design!

Re: Suzuki Intruder 150: Launch on November 7, 2017

Thank you for sharing more pics from the launch.
The bike looks good from some angles but quite bad some others. The front looks quite good and the side angle is tolerable. The rear however looks very disproportionate , in spite of having 140 section wheels. I guess a 150 or 160 would have made it look still okay, but this certainly looks weird.

As per the specs given on the website, the fuel tank capacity is only 11l, which is quite low for a cruiser. However, as it is a small engine with decent fuel efficiency, this would give a 450+km range. The FI engine is not available on the intruder. The twin exhaust and rear disc brakes, and ABS is certainly a first in this segment. The digital instrumentation also looks good as compared to the simple speedo offered by the Avenger and V150. The price would be a deciding factor, but still at present it looks like a good package overall.

Launch pricing as per Overdrive is Rs 98340. Decent pricing in my opinion, for a well loaded bike. However, in some pictures, where it is being ridden by tall riders, the bike looks quite small.
