Motorcycle rental services are still at a nascent stage in India but are rapidly growing across the country offering the convenience of riding a motorcycle without the hassles of owning it. While the service is already popular in Goa, Ladakh, Pune and Bangalore, the latest city to join the list is Chennai with dateabike.com. Branded as the city’s only bike rental service, Date a Bike offers customers the option to choose from the Harley-Davidson Street 750, Triumph Bonneville, Royal Enfield Continental GT and Royal Enfield Desert Storm 500.
Coming to the rental schemes, riders can rent the bikes for a period of 5 hours, 10 hours or 24 hours based on their requirement. The company’s most affordable rental bike is the Desert Storm 500 that is available for Rs. 1500/- for 5 hours while the most expensive offering is the Triumph Bonneville that is available for Rs. 4400/- for 5 hours. While prices do seem optimistic, Date a Bike does offer 50 percent off on weekdays (Mon-Fri noon) on 5 hour and 10 hour packages.
The rental cost, however, does not include fuel charges and the rider availing the service will be given the bike with a full tank of fuel and will have to return the bike in the same way. For availing the service, riders need to submit their original passport or any other government validated ID proof as mandatory. There is also a refundable security deposit of Rs. 15,000/- that will be used to deduct the rental rate, fuel refilling costs (if the rider hasn’t tanked up) and damage charges (in case).
Date a bike does equip its motorcycles with comprehensive insurance and can arrange for baggage theft insurance as well. Apart from renting bikes, the service also offers accessories like a GoPro camera at Rs. 750/- and riding gear inclusive of helmet, jacket and gloves for Rs. 1250/-.
