A nice initiative by Karnataka Government.
BIKE AMBU.jpg

The move is indeed aimed at reducing deaths due to road accidents wherein the platinum trauma care initiative is useful for negotiating heavy traffic in urban areas where a four-wheeler ambulance would take time to navigate and reach the accident spot. The bikes would be flagged off by Chief Minister Siddaramaiah today. Speaking more on the occasion, he said, “The paramedic will reach the spot in ten minutes and give first aid and start resuscitation measures to save the victim till the four-wheeler ambulance arrives.”

Re: Bangaluru Gets its First Bike Ambulance

Wonderful service, Air ambulance is the need of the hour in our country, but looking at the practicality [frustration].

Bike Ambulance was launched by Baby Memorial Hospital, Calicut, last year.

Baby Memorial Hospital launches the first Bike Ambulance service in India with AED Facility. The fully equipped bike ambulance was launched on 29th September 2014 by Mr A V George, City Commissioner of Police.

.
The main benefit of the bike ambulance is that it could ensure quick medical access to patients even during heavy traffic blocks. The bike ambulance will be driven by a trained paramedic (Emergency Medical Service) while a mobile ICU with a medical team will follow the bike. The service will be free and available round the clock. The bike ambulance is equipped with the following facilities.

a. Automated External Defibrillator (AED)
b. Oxygen
c. Pulse Oxymeter
d. BP Apparatus
e. Glucometer
f. First Aid Kit
g. Half Spine board
h. C Collar
i. Portable suction

its a bajaj avenger. it wouldn't be an ideal bike for an ambulance as maneuvering it in heavy city traffic would be very difficult when compared to a sports bike.( the idea is to bring fist aid to patients in cities with heavy traffic and and jams at the earliest where a 4 wheeled ambulance would take ages to reach )

Is it Bajaj Avenger or Enticer ?

Is it good choice for such a important / always ready vehicle ?

Yes, It wont be a good choice, these bikes cannot be handled easily in traffic, a RE Bullet or a scooter like Jupiter or Activa would have been good, and since scooters have better storage spaces, a scooter would have been good.

RE Bullet won't be a nice choice, still it is a nice bike to be in for long hour cruising but to an extent it is not that much comfortable as our hands ache in bumper to bumper traffic. But Hero Splender would have been good than any other scooter or bike. And Hero Splender gives good mileage and it is much easier to swim through the traffic.

Putting everything aside I am more worried about the rider who will be supposed to ride quickly on the city streets under emergency. Looking at the way many people just occupy or rush in the lane of ambulance vacated by Amy other vehicle, the safety of these ambulance riders in itself is a big deal. For them to ride safe, the 4 wheeler drivers will need to learn the correct way of giving the way. Adding more to the voes is the motorcycle, its a Bajaj avenger, the motorcycle which in itself is handful to operate at times and handling it on loose surface or sudden emergency maneuvers on this motorcycle is nothing but the worst nightmare of a motorcyclist.

IMO, TVS Apache RTR ABS or Honda CBR 250 ABS are the motorcycles those would have worked best here, Apache is by every way a perfect city traffic scissor with its sharp handling and will be even better with ABS equipped brakes.
