Hero is now working on 200cc and 250cc Impulse motorcycles. It has registered the names Impulse 200 and Impulse 250. The first one will be powered by a 200 cc, single-cylinder carburetted engine producing 23 bhp. The second version will feature a 250 cc, single-cylinder, fuel-injected power plant with 31 bhp on tap. This engine will be shared with the upcoming HX250R.

The new Impulse motorcycles are likely to be launched in early 2016.

Great to know this info ! Finally we can expect a real powered off-roader ! The specs are stunning, but what about on road price ? Hero has to be very careful in this part to get good sales, because these bikes are not regular commuters. They belong to a special category where buyers are less in numbers.

IMO,the reason for the failure of impulse is Hero itself. For a new product which is introduced to a new segment where people are new to it,a company needs humongous hard work for the promotion of the product. The promotion i meant is mainly advertisement showing which types of customers they are aiming or which segment is they are targeting. As RE doing, they can do any off-roading activities for making impulse popular among off-roading enthusiasts. If i'm right, not much activities had done by Hero for the promotion of impulse and they didn't gave any importance to that beautiful product and unplugged it.Anyway, again a spark formed in the head of Hero.May be,this time impulse will be a success.

Well said hari, there are so many examples of good bikes failing in market due to lack of promotion. Hero has to promote this bike extensively. As you said, by advertisements, by holding events, hero should create new segment and attract all types of bikers to this particular segment. This scenario is like creation of market, instead of giving some commodity to already existing market. Lets wish Hero motors a grand success.

Cheers

Actually, impulse had huge potential in offroading.
It has the smooth original old Unicorn's engine with a awesome suspension system esp. Front forks.
Hero spoiled it by not promoting it and spent time on making plastic parts for giving their old 97.2 cc bikes a 'new look'.
