Thanks Mr. Aakash!

And the Twin spark, is it like pulsar's (one fires at certain rpm and another at certain rpm) or both sparking at the same time?

IMO, you should try adding some more cushion on both seats Sir. The seats, esp. the rear looks so skinny[frustration]
I think it would add comfort to your ride (correct me if I am wrong, because I also heard spongy seats are known as uncomfortable for touring).

Classic 500 will be a perfect fit for all kinds of terrain, be it highway or city, would fit you perfect. Though it doesnt have those modern features of the TB, but it is a looker![:)]

Thanks Bro. I like the cruiser styling of the RE but wish it had that stretched front end as in avenger and elongated tail. which would have made it a perfect chopper. Wish i was in the design team of RE. would have suggested them a chopper to be a part of their product line up along with the existing models.
@ RVSB spongy seats do add up to ride comfortableness. However in the TB its not the seat that's out of proportion but the sissy bar, That's what is out of place. however i think for now i will be happy with the TB500
may be in a later part will modify it a bit.

All the current RE Bullet models are twin spark except GT Cafe Racer. In the twin spark firing is at the same time.

GT Cafe Racer engine has a better life than other bullets due to single spark as in twin spark there will be more/faster wear and tear similar to pulsar. Bullet STD 500 has the best ELF in the world due to low rpm.

In choosing a particular model in bullet, it's purely a personal choice and budget as all models are good.

STD350:- budget, simple and original Indian bullet feel.
Electra:- economical with slightly better features than std350.
Classic350:- looks, ideal for city rides.
Thunderbird:- best for the highway cruiser, extra gadgets.
STD500:- add extra power to std 350, better thump due to carburettor and highest engine life of all the bikes in the world.
Classic & Thunderbird 500:- add fuel ignition system and extra power Compared to the respective 350 models.
GT Racer:- purely for the racer and those who want to stand out in the crowd. Unpractical for daily use. Higher power than any other bullet, plus single spark which gives it a better engine life than classics and thunderbirds.

Between 350 and 500 expect a mileage difference of 2-3 kmpl.

All it matters Is wether you are riding a bullet rather than which model or colour. Just buy one and best of luck.

Hello Everyone,

I am currently in the market for Thunderbird 350/500.
Can someone explain what`s the difference between both the versions apart from the engine capacity? I read in the above post that the 500 also comes with fuel ignition system. What`s that and its benefits compared to the 350 version?

This will be my first crusier, currently I am using TVS Jupiter and I do not know how I caught the cruiser bug or I might say specifically the Royal Enfield bug, but I am really wanting to own it as I have a heavy body frame so it will suit me well.

So guys, please help me choose the correct version. Also my running will be purely in the city.

hey there Pranav there is quiet a lot of difference in thunderbird 500 and thunderbird 350

1. Thunderbird 500 has EFI ( Electronic Fuel Injection) whereas Thunderbird 350 has a carb
2. Mileage figures of 350 is better than 500
3. Thunderbird 500 is more of a highway runner as in if you have to run it in cities you will have quiet a lot of gear shifts. whereas 350 is easy on the highway as well as city
4. Im an old school guy who likes to get his hands dirty when the bike is malfunctioning so i can repair a carb engine. however for a EFI until and unless you are thorough knowledge its impossible to rectify the error.
5. Any road side bike mechanic can repair 350's but for 500 one needs sound knowledge.
6. rest everything is the same on both the vehicles so decide where your preference lies and then choose the bike.

as you say your running is purely city i would recomend a 350 over a 500.

hope the info helps in deciding.

Thanks for the clarification between both the two. Also are there any drawbacks of having a carb system in the 350 against the EFI in 500? And is there any reason to why RE uses two different system? I mean why can`t they use carb in both 350 and 500 or EFI in both 350 and 500?

Anyways, apart from this you already clarified my doubts and now I will be going in for TB350. Probably book it by this month end. Also are there any rumors of a updated TB launching next year or being showcased in the Auto Expo 2016? Do I need to wait or just buy the TB350 this year itself?
