The Bajaj brand has come a long way. From producing commuter bikes for the masses to introducing KTM in India for the Indian sport bike enthusiast, Bajaj has been the catalyst for the two wheeler revolution. With a fan base that can occupy a country, Bajaj has been going strong for more than a decade. Fans have been pleading for a more powerful bike for years now. With most competitors entering the 250cc segment, it seemed that Bajaj was falling behind. Nobody expected what Bajaj had in store for the public at the 2014 Delhi Auto Expo. Reminiscent of the first models ever to be unveiled, Bajaj unveiled two variants of the Pulsar last week.
The Pulsar SS 400
Both vehicles sport a 375cc engine which seems to have been derived from the KTM Duke 390. The two bikes released by the Indian auto maker are known as CS 400 and SS 400
Pulsar SS 400:

The SS 400 is also known as the Super Sport 400. The first Pulsar to feature full fairing, the 400 SS looks absolutely bonkers. The sharp lines emanating from the dual projector head lamps surge outward add the much needed racing characteristic of the Pulsar family. The bike made its first appearance after numerous speculative renderings and spy shots at the 2014 Delhi Auto Expo.

Considering the fact that an Indian company is behind the Pulsar SS 400, the price is not expected to be too high. Since this is still a concept, Bajaj may have spared no expense in making this model one of the fastest possible. However, when it does get to the production stage, the engine may be slightly detuned. This does not necessarily mean the SS 400 will be a feeble opponent. The RC 390 produces an already absurd 43 HP so the SS 400 will not be far behind. With a detuned engine, the SS 400 pay be priced lower than the RC 390, a major factor in its initial public response.

The 400SS is a looker from all angles The RC 390 when released, will most likely be priced around Rs. 2.4 lakhs ex-showroom. KTM can afford to place their bikes at a relatively higher price point considering the fact that it is a foreign brand renowned for its racing expertise backed by over 60 years of experience. A premium price for a premium badge. When it comes to Bajaj, the company will most likely place the SS 400 at a lower price bracket. The speculated price of the SS 400 when released will be about Rs. 1.9 to 2.1 lakhs ex-showroom.

Re: Auto News Pulsar SS400 & CS400 375cc: Speculative price of 2015 Pulsars

PULSAR CS 400: The Pulsar CS 400 is a street fighter similar in many aspects to its smaller sibling: the 200 NS. The basic design layout of the 200NS has been carried over with the CS 400. Also known as the Cruising Sport 400, the 400 CS has grown well and Bajaj has implemented the design quite well. Unlike the 200 Duke and the 390 Duke, the differences between the 200 NS and the CS 400 are immediately apparent. The CS 400 is a far more aggressively styled bike. The new naked sports bike was an unexpected entry at the 2014 Delhi auto expo. While the 200NS had an understated presence that hid its true nature, the CS 400 screams power. What applies to the SS 400 also applies to the CS 400. This bike once again will be placed in a lower price segment as that of its distant relative: The KTM 390 Duke. While the 390 Duke is priced at Rs. 1.91 lakh ex showroom, the CS 400 will in all likelihood be priced somewhere between Rs. 1.7 to 1.85 lakhs ex-showroom. Buddies,

This bike by Bajaj is expected to launch in India in this financial year as hinted by the officials.

Commenting on the Pulsar 400, Bajaj said: "We would like to see the 400 to debut as power cruiser as we had shown in the last Auto Expo... also stated to be launched some point in this financial year. So when that happens the Pulsar 400 would be the next flagship of the Pulsar brand".
