Churning out 36ps, Yamaha might finally get its position back in the market just Yamaha R15, your thoughts?

Yamaha has launched the much anticipated R25 bike in Indonesia. However, there are no confirmed reports yet about when the bike would reach our shores. The styling cues seem to be derived from its elder cousin the Yamaha R6S. The R25 gets dual headlights with a pilot lamp sitting on top, and mirrors mounted onto the fairing. The instrument cluster comprises both analogue and digital information for the rider. The 14.3-litre fuel tank gets a black strip in the centre tapering down into the splits on offer for the rider and pillion. A stubby exhaust canister makes way on this new machine for better weight distribution.

The R25 houses a 250cc, liquid-cooled, in-line, four-stroke, two-cylinder powerhouse that is mated to a six-speed gearbox. The eight-valve DOHC motor produces maximum power of 35.5bhp at 12000rpm while peak torque of 2.25kgm is made at 10000 revs.

The R25's 166 kg kerb weight is supported by telescopic front forks and a monoshock rear suspension. Stopping power is managed by a single front and rear disc brake, which are mounted onto smart looking ten-spoke alloys finished in black.

The R25 is available in three colour options – blue, black and red.

Re: Yamaha R25 launched at INR 2.7 Lakh in Indonesia

Hi,
Look and feel is almost like the R15 version 2. Not much difference onthe physical structure. So finally Yamaha entered into the competition of 250cc bikes.

Yamaha MT 25 (naked Yamaha R25) spotted without camouflage – Spied

These images show the Yamaha MT 25 sans camouflage for the first time. The MT 25 is the naked sibling of the Yamaha R25, and is expected to launch in Indonesia in the July-August period this year, where it will be produced by PT Yamaha Indonesia Motor Manufacturing (YIMM).

The MT 25 will inherit its mechanicals from the popular R25. The engine in question is a parallel-twin cylinder 250 cc unit which is capable of producing 36 PS at 12,000 rpm and 22.6 Nm of torque at 10,000 rpm. The gearbox will be a 6-speed transmission.

Reports cite that Yamaha has altered the handlebar and seating position of the MT 25 in comparison to the R25, for a more upright riding position. Other design aspects of the motorcycle, like the stubby exhaust, the webbed alloy wheels, the chiseled tank and the instrument cluster seem borrowed from the faired R25.

For the Indian market, Yamaha is yet to announce concrete plans for the sportsbike segment. The brand could explore the more powerful R3 in addition to the R25, but has not confirmed anything.

Yamaha R25 spotted in India, but launch plans unclear

India Yamaha Motor will bracket the Yamaha R25 for now and launch the R3 instead. Both import and export records, along with spyshots, confirm that it is the R3 that will hit the Indian markets, reportedly in September 2015. India Yamaha Motor has not confirmed either of the two launches in India.

The R25 is a smaller bike with a 2-cylinder 249 cc liquid cooled engine that produces a healthy 36 PS at 12,000 rpm. Peak torque for the motor rests at 22.1 Nm at 10,000 rpm. Mounted on to a diamond frame, the bike gets a 6-speed manual transmission box and electronic fuel injection. Tipping the scales at 166 kg, the R25 has a ground clearance of 160 mm and a wheelbase of 1,380 mm.

The R3, on the other hand, gets a 2-cylinder liquid-cooled 321 cc engine that produces 42 PS at 10,750 rpm. Peak torque stands at 29.6 Nm at 9,000 rpm. The bike rests on the same diamond frame that houses the R25. Weighing a tad heavier at 169 kg, the R3 gets a 6-speed gearbox as well.

While the R25 made its debut in Indonesia earlier last year, the R3 has been on sale in the European market and the American market. It is still unclear as to what model will be launched in India come September, though the latter looks the more certain candidate.
