If I wanted a 150cc bike I would have directly gone there. If you have read my earlier mails you would have noticed that Kinetic was my choice. It wasn't dumped on me.
Let me tell you something interesting. When I used to ride Bullet (350 / 500 /535) folks called me mad .. everyone was on the 70kmpl bikes. I rode a Bullet not because I was a pahalwan (hyderabadi lingo) nor a zamindar (Bihar / UP) or a cop. I wanted to be different! I have done enough modifications to my Bullets (all performance based) so that even a '88 Standard could take on a CBZ signal to signal. But there came a time when every Tom dick and Harry started riding those LS geared RE bikes. They became too common. During that time I stopped riding the Bullet.
Now in the era of non geared scooters everyone rides a Honda /Suzuki. So I ride a Kinetic. The reason I want to do this one up is because Kyni is a simple vehicle, easy to maintain, very reliable and extremely maneuverable. Having a metal body its more robust than its counterparts. Give me a couple of months this PR will rock like it has never rocked before.
I am digging your brains because you love a Kinetic, you have restored one and maybe you have also thought of modifications.
The next plan is to open the two wheel assemblies / gear box, check the bearings mounts and if need be replace them.
Then it will be the Handle .. T-rod cone and balls etc.
As of now all lights, horns starter are working so will hunt for a complete wiring harness and do up the electricals.
I am working on fixing a GPS / smart phone holder on the dash board.
The bore / piston I will not touch now as there is sufficient compression.
Once the bike is in the best condition mechanically I will go for some tinkering and painting.
In between of course I will get the bike ready for trips. It does 90-100km in a day (45 - 50 km each way) peacefully. Sometimes I even do the whole distance without a single stop. Now the plan is to take it for a continuous 200 - 250km in a day. Then stretch it more to see whats the most that can be done on it in a day comfortably by man and machine. I am also not the young guy that I used to be
