I've decided to pick up either a Duke 390 or a RC 390. I wanted to test all 4 KTM's (Duke 200, Duke 390, RC 200 & RC 390) before booking. However even after 5 visits to the showroom I was not able to get a Test Ride. Sent the following complaint on the KTM website this morning:
I intend purchasing a KTM, most probably a Duke 390 but want to Test Ride all 4 KTM's before taking the final decision. I have been visiting the dealer several times but I was denied a Test Ride every time. Following were the excuses given:
- Test ride bike is at the other showroom (Porvorim).
- Test ride bike was damaged during one of the test rides and is under repair.
- The person who would accompany me on the ride is not there
I had also requested a Test Ride around 6 months ago and was given the same excuse of bike damaged during a test ride.
Also the sales rep did not show much enthusiasm in selling the bike and was more interested in "Book the bike and then we will see" or "You don't have any other option. Take it or leave it" attitude.
Got a call within 5 minutes from the dealer saying that they will check which bike is available and send it to my place.
I was assured that I would be given a test ride of at least 1 bike and that the same would be sent to my residence. I told them that if they were prepared to give me a test ride on more than 1 of the models, I was willing to come to the showroom otherwise they could send the bike to my residence. I was told that they would call me and let me know. However I never received any call from them so I contacted them again but the persons who attended the call were not aware of any such plans for a test ride. They said they would inform the person who had contacted me in the morning to contact me again. Finally after about half an hour I got a call saying they would bring the bike by 4:30 PM. I gave them directions to my house. Instead of coming to my house they came to some other place and asked me to come there. Not wanting to make a further issue I went. I was given a short test ride with the guy sitting behind give me advise on when to change gears and how to brake. I just controlled myself and kept my cool. Didn't really get a chance to open the throttle but then the purpose of the ride was to acertain the comfort level. Not the most comfortable but not bad either. Now need to check out the Duke. Again they had no idea when they could give me a Test Ride on the Duke. If they don't do it tomorrow, I'll be shooting off another complaint to KTM.
Another matter that I would be discussing at the time of booking is the Handling Charge of Rs. 3380 for the Duke and Rs. 4300 for the RC. AFAIK
the Ex-Showroom price is the price of the bike in the showroom which includes logistics. To take the bike from the showroom you only need to pay Registration, Road Tax and Insurance and nothing else.
