Hello fellow travelers and motorists

I am planning a trip at the end of this month to Panchalingeswar from Kolkata. I have consulted Google Maps and it seems that the best route option is to take NH16 (old NH6) via Nivedita bridge and then after Uttarsimla, I need to take Kharagpur Bypass (AH45/NH16). According to Google Map, I need to continue on NH16 and before Sergarh Chakka, I need to take a right turn to SH19. After continuing on SH19 for about 7.4km I need to turn left to take a Nilagiri Bypass road till Sai Marbles. After that I need to take Panchalingeswar Road.

Please suggest and advise regarding this trip, road condition and necessary cautions that should be employed. Please note, I shall be traveling with my family in Alto 800, and I have never embarked in such a long journey before, though I have been driving in and around city for last two years (nearly).

I have just finished a 1370 long trip (from home and back) to Rambha and Barkul. One thing I can tell you is that you should keep an eye on the roads of Orissa. Neither the state highways nor the National Highways are that well maintained. The leveling is poor and the unannounced speed breakers are going to give you a severe bone jarring experience. Add to that too many toll booths with their high toll charges. Finally, it's a habit common to locals to travel on the wrong side of the road (NH and SH), be it on their bikes, autos or bicycles. Frankly speaking, I did not find Orissa a tourist friendly state and surely not for motorist.
