Pune - Indore - Pune

Hello Guys,

I have to attend Marriage in Indore on 22nd Nov. Want to use this opportunity by travelling in my WagonR.
Need some pointers for this long trip regarding route and trip.

Trip Details:
1> Start on Saturday 21st Nov early, Reach Indore by evening.
2> Attend Marriage on 22nd Nov.
3> Start returning on 23rd Nov, reach Pune by evening. Deroute at Pimpalgaon baswant(before Nasik) to meet br-in-law.
Take Pimpalgaon-Niphad-shirdi-Nagar-Pune route.
In case got chance, will start on Friday to Indore, Saturday will be small trip to Indore-ujjain-Indore.

Route Options:
Up > Pune - Nagar- Aurangabad- Dhule- Indore
> Pune- Nagar- Shirdi- Dhule- Indore
Down> Indore - Dhule- Pimpalgaon-Niphad-Shirdi-Nagar-Pune

Persons Tavelling- Me, My wife, Daughter(3.5 yrs), Driver.
Car - WagonR vxi Petrol
Servicing - Done last Month
Collant- Full
Spare tyre- Ready
Kits - jack and tools intact, Extra petrol (3 litres), water 5 litres can, Spare basic mobile phone, Medical Kit, Torch

I have got a driver as well for driving.


Want advice/pointers for this trip.

Hi,

Completed the trip safely. We started on Friday 5.20 AM from Pune. We took Nagar bypass and reached Shirdi by 9 AM.
took a 30 min break at Vithal Kamat and started for Malegaon. We reached AB road (NH3) by 11.30 and headed for Indore.
Reached Rau at 5.30 and Guest house by 6.15 PM.
Route - Pune- Wagholi- AhmedNagar bypass-Rahuri-Shirdi-MAnmad- Malegaon- dhule-Sendhwa-Indore
Total distance covered -636 Km

Day2- Had a leisure start and headed for Ujjain. We visited Mahakaleshwar Temple and had delicious Daal-Bafle at Sidhwat. Then came back to Indore by 6 Pm and took rest.
Day3 - Attended Marriage
Local distance covered - 170 kms
Day4- Started from Indore at 5.40, Reached PimpalGaon (Nashik) by 12.45. Took rest for 2 hrs and started at 3 PM.
Reached Shirdi at 5 PM and took snaks break at Vithal Kamat. Headed for Pune via Nagar. It started raining heavily at Nagar.
Reached Pune by 9.45 PM .
Distance covered - 705 Km
Total Distance covered in Trip - 1516 Km
Petrol - 81 Litres
Mileage - 18.8 km/lit
Total Toll 5 toll booths on NH3 from Malegaon till Indore - 450 rs one side.

How is the road condition between Pune and Shirdi?
Also what is the best route to travel between Nashik and Pune. Google maps are showing approximate same time if one comes via NH50 or via Thane using Mumbai Pune Expressway.

Hi,

The road condition b/w Pune and Shirdi is good enough, few rough patches after Nagar MIDC bypass (Rahuri). The shirdi - Manmad- Malegaon road is also in gr8 shape.

For Nashik to Pune, the best way is to take Nasik-Sangamner-Chakan route, but its crowded.

If you start early morning say at around 6am from Pune, you can easily reach Nasik by 10 am. I recently did Pune-Nasik-Pune trip in my Nano. I started from either cities at 6am and reached at 10am. Speed was mostly between 70-80kmph. This includes a 20mins break in between.

During peak hours it will take around 5.30 or 6 hours.

The route via Thane is long one i.e. approx 300 kms. 50% more than NH50. You end up paying more for Tolls and fuel for via Thane route. For NH50 its only Rs30 toll.

Thanks Bimlendra and Rahul for your suggestion. Will stick to NH50 and start early. What else one wants if distance between both cities are getting covered in 4 hrs sedately.

Nothing more except :

1> Tank full
2> tyre pressure check 1 day before
3> Have enough snacks + water
4> Maintain constant 80-90 kmph.

You should reach Nashik in 4.3 hrs from Pune.
