Hi Guys,

I am travelling to GOA with my wife, sister and of course my PUNTO on 29-08-2014 to 01-09-2014. Thought of travelling through Shimoga and cover Jog Falls. But dropped the plan as I will be really late to reach Goa. I will be staying in North Goa.
Google Map shows the below path,
https://www.google.co.in/maps/dir/Wind+Tunnel+Rd,+Murugeshpalya,+Bengaluru,+Karnataka/Country+Clube+De+Goa,+836%2F1+Anjuna,+Goa,+GA/@14.2691246,74.6011185,8z/data=!3m1!4b1!4m14!4m13!1m5!1m1!1s0x3bae13ece3cca6f7:0xa620498dd7b63732!2m2!1d77.6598313!2d12.94759!1m5!1m1!1s0x3bbfe9814c5f70d3:0x57b5af8565ed4e4a!2m2!1d73.7429!2d15.5838!3e0?hl=en

Has anybody covered this route recently?
Please suggest me about the places to visit, any good food stops on the way and in GOA and any other precautions I have to take on this route.
Thanks in Advance.

About 6 months back I have traveled to Hubli through the same route. The roads are in great condition now also.At Davangere and Hubli you can take pit stops . The only issue is fun stopping toll gates . Start early .By evening you can reach goa. Last 200 Kms there are some ghat sections ,which you must be careful about. This piece of information I got from friends.
Wishing you happy and secure drive.

Thanks Generalmax and Amit for your suggestions.

Yes, I am planning to Start at 4 AM and targeting GOA by 4 PM at max. Places to be visited I am in dilemma now. As I am staying in North Goa, what need to be visited? South Goa also contains many old churches, so any one have any suggestions please?

I did this route in last December. Took Shimoga Jog Fallls and stayed at Murudeshwar. Bangalore Shimoga roads were good and aftee Shimoga lot of patch work and only 2 lane roads without dividers.
Forest road from Jog to till NH17 were manageable. NH17 excellent till Goa.

Once you enter Goa border after the checkpost where you would be paying Rs.250 roads would become narrow and would reduce your speed to less than 50kmph.

Baga was overcrowded as it was christmas time. However Candolim beach was less crowded.

Enjoy the beaches
