The situation is like this.
I was working in Kolkata(my home base for last 8 years), Now relocating to Bangalore. My relocation will happen around August(Dates not yet fixed). I have a swift zxi at my home base. The transportation guys charged 17K to one of friend for transporting his car and the car got some scratches during the transportation.I don't want that. Also if i drive the cost will be lesser than 17K(I hope as I rarely go above 80km/h on highways, I usually get a FE of 18+kmpl on all my highway journeys).
This is my condition and thoughts in a nutshell.
Now I am open to all kind of suggestions regarding the best mode of transportation of the car. If self driving would be the best option, then detail on route to take and other things. :).
I am also posting it in travel itineraries section.
Best way to transport your car: On-Road Drive
Self-drive is the only option since no one else would ever agree for such eccentric decision.
From Kolkata take the NH5 route to Kharagpur (since I don't know where do you live hope this helps). Keep on driving straight till you reach Nellore. Follow Google Map, nothing else needed to be written here.
Break the journey in 4 days. I say so since with max 80 kmph speed, you would get an average of 50 kmph due to breaks, lunch etc. etc. and be on the street with car for 10-12 hrs per day should be fine.
Day 1 - Kolkata to Bhubaneswar
Day 2 - Bhubaneswar to Vizag
Day 3 - Vizag to Nellore
Day 4 - Nellore to Bangalore
You may stay 1 day in Bhubaneswar (Temples) and Vizag (Submarine Museum, Kailashgiri, Araku Valley, Tribal Museum near Araku Valley) for sight seeing, worth it. So ignoring your sight seeing distances, you should be covering 1900 km and sight seeing would add another 600 km max.
So have a budget for total 2500 km. Petrol cost should be max 13k. 5 days of hotel should cost max 13 k (assuming 2.5k per day). Food should cost you less than 10k.
So your total trip cost should be less than 35k. Hope, no once can visit Bhubaneswar, Vizag and reach Bangalore so lavishly with 35k! So on-road is the best way.
Hope this helps! Keep us posted about your travel.
