Suggenstions For Trivandrum - Ooty Routes and Destinations in Between

We, a group of 6, are planning for a vacation in Ooty from 2nd October to 6th October. Thinking of starting from Trivandrum in the early morning and reach Ooty in the evening.

Any suggestions for the roads/destinations enroute/short cuts-bypasses to avoid cities/road conditions are highly appreciated.

Moreover don't hesitate to mention the best and variety food available enroute..

bro. the road from kaliyakkavilai to nagercoil is in a bad condition. you can take a alternate route.

tvm - kaliyakkavilai - azagiamandapam - eranial - kuruthamcode - peyode - asaripallam - nagercoil. the road from nagercoil - kavalkinaru is ok now. some patchwork has been done.

I would suuggest;

Tvm>Kollam(BP)> Alleppey(BP)>Cochin(BP)>Thrissur(BP)>Vadakkanchery, take a right turn to Pollachi (via Nemmara>Kollegode>Govindapuram)>Coimbatore>Mettuppalayam>Coonur>Ooty

Avoid Vandakkanchery>Alathur>Palakkad>Walayar>Coimbatore road, as the road condition is very bad.

As we had traveled a lot through the God's own country, this time we are thinking to choose the route suggested by msjawahar.

Ram, isn't the NH in a pathetic condition and having terrific traffic . Thanks for the info bro, for a change we are thinking to hit the border at the earliest and spend most of the time in TN.

this route is correct.

just 3 kms after azagiamandapam there is a place named Thiruvithamcode. There is a church over there named St. Marys Church. It was built in 63 AD. Its in the main road.
