Planning a Trip To Trichy From Bangalore

Digging up an old thread to quickly update on Bangalore - Karur - Trichy - Bangalore road conditions.
I had a pit stop at Karur. Hence travelled till Karur.
Onward journey.
330am - 745am: Bangalore - Karur. 6 lanes highway till Krishnagiri. 4 lanes highway till Karur. No issues whatsoever. Bangalore - Hosur - Krishnagiri - Dharmapuri - Salem - Namakkal - Karur. Just one coffee/bio break @ just after Salem at a non-descript place. I don't usually cross 100-110kmph. I felt there were a lot more opposite traffic & lots of glare compared to my other drives between Bangalore - Krishnagiri. May be its time to change blades / wiper fluids.
1030am - 1230pm: Karur - Trichy. Karur - Karur By Pass Road - Mayanur - Lalapet - Kulithalai - Jeeyapuram - Trichy. 2 lane undivided carriageway all through, a bit broad though. Karur - Mayanur: Excellent roads. Mayanur - Trichy: Good roads. Lots & lots of truck traffic. Not much of maniac drivers like the Bangalore-Mysore. But some trucks / private buses will force you to move to shoulders, and yes there is enough shoulder space. Mostly pot-hole free roads.
Return journey.
430pm - 1130pm. Trichy - Bangalore. Wanted to try a different route. Hence tried the below mentioned route, for seeking alternatives to avoid the truck traffic.
Trichy - Srirangam - Thiruvellarai - Pagalavadi - Kannanur Road - Kannanur - Tattayyangarpettai - Pavithram - Alanganatham - Namakkal - Salem - Dharmapuri - Krishnagiri - Hosur - Koramangala.
Trichy - Srirangam - even upto Kollidakarai (turn right towards Thuraiyur): Good roads, but huge traffic. 2 lane carriageway.
Kollidakarai - Pagalavadi: Decent roads, but speedbreakers at every village.
Pagalavadi - Kannanur Road - Kannanur: Wanted to try this to see if the 8 kms (going to Thuraiyur & back) is worth. Fully broken tarmac. Not worth it at all. You need to bear this for about 3-4 kms till you join the Namakkal - Thuraiyur road.
Kannanur - Namakkal: Rare pot holes, but most good roads all through, with speedbreakers everywhere. 2 lane undivided carriageway.
Overall the drive time remains same. Trichy - Namakkal: Can be done in 2 hrs via this route, leisurely drive. Till you reach Namakkal, no decent pit stops anywhere. Bio breaks have to be in the nature!
Namakkal - Salem - Dharmapuri - Krishnagiri - Hosur - Bangalore, via the usual route. Krishnagiri toll took me 10-12min for me to get cleared, all others were a breeze. If not for the heavy rains, I would have reached 15-20min earlier. A dinner break at A2B, just after the Palayam toll.
