We are 4 , me(only driver), wife and 2 kids , so please provide some hints with family safty of prime importance. | with wife and kids, you may need to plan to stop at night somewhere
nice place to stay on the way out of Delhi toward NH1 is Premier Inn, New Delhi, Shalimar Bagh. If you only driver, then it will be difficult to get up to Delhi on one go, took us 2 drivers 27 hours. So you may need to plan at least two stops for a night. |

I am planning of the following route to take:
Leg1 pune-ahemadnagar-dhule-manpur-lebad-mandsaur-chittorgarh-kota-- around 1200kms -- ETA: 20 hours. 2 drivers.
| sure that may be possible Quote:
Leg2 Kota- Swai Madhopur-Dausa-Alwar-Behror-Rewari-Jhajhar-sonepat-panipat-ambala-shambhu barrier-rupnagar-rupar-kiratpur sahib-Swarghat-bilaspur Around 900kms ETA: 13-15 hours. 1 driver.
| Rewari-Jhajhar-sonepat - Haryana internal roads no good. you will not gain anything, rather then going to Delhi direct and then following Ring road toward NH1.
up to rupnagar good road 4 lanes, but once you turn on NH21 then up to Bilaspur road totally broken, because movement very slow it literally staffed with trucks. That is very slow movement 40kmh at best.
here is two pictures I made on that stretch from Rupnagar to Bilaspur
After Bilaspur road quality improves and 60-80 kmh is possible.
I know that road quite good, I drove today from Kullu to Bilaspur in 3 hours 30 minutes. Started from Kullu at 3 am and passed Bilaspur at 6:30. At night driving much faster, but it is not good idea to drive that road at night if it is your first time. We started at 3 am because we know It is possible to get into Bilaspur area at morning. we will got to Delhi at 14:00, so that was 11 hours drive with one stop for breakfast after Chandigarh. Quote:
Leg3 Bilaspur-ner chowk-mandi-aut-manali Around 180kms. ETA 6 hours: 1 Driver
| that may be possible Quote:
Another important question:
Any place in your journey where you were harassed by the law breakers and/or law breakers?
| absolutely nothing like that

| Re: Pune To Kullu On the way back from Pune to Delhi
we started from Chandi chowk area at 12:30 reached Pune next day 17:00 same 27 hours as before from Pune to Delhi.
I would divide this rout on 4 major parts.
1. Delhi - left turn before Ajmer.
2. Left turn before Ajmer - NH3
3. NH3 - Malegaon
4. Malegaon - Pune.
1. Delhi - left turn before Ajmer. Delhi to Jaipur tar quality worst kind from the whole rout amongst 4 lanes roads. After right turn on Jaipur bypass road quality improves. Left turn before Ajmer important point not to miss. GPS location for that turn N26 35'26.9" E074 54'42.8"
Time 12:30 started in Delhi and 18:50 reached that place, 4:20 minutes travel.
2 After left turn before Ajmer NH79 4 lane road excellent quality tar, not much local traffic only trucks.
Time started 18:50 reached NH3 at 4:28. 7 hours 40 minutes travel. Road going via Bhilwara, Chittorgarh, Neemuch, Ratlam. Best stretch to drive at night. Road quality excellent, not much turns speed in 100-120 kmh easily can e maintained. Important point right turn to new link road between NH79 and NH3 this turn located 2 kms before Lebag, no any indicators very difficult to find especially at knight. Here is GPS for that turn N22 28' 25.6" E075 34'23.8"
3. NH3 - Malegaon After right turn on NH3 there is speed breakers after each 300m. No wonder why cars in India need suspension overhaul after 30K kms. Especially at night be real careful, these speedbreakers may appears very suddenly. Great road quality real fun to drive, not much traffic at morning hours.
4 Malegaon - Pune. This road real fast at night and packed with local traffic heavily during day time. Bikes, autos, tempos ect. One the way from Pune to Delhi we passed this road at night and that was real easy and fast. Totally different during day time. Also when we reached Malegaon we learned that there was an big acident in Monmad and road completely blocked. A lot of trucks parked waiting for road to reopen. We took left turn in Chandwad and managed to Shirdi by local 2 lanes roads. We lost about 3 hours because of diversion and heavy local traffic.

| Re: Pune To Kullu I cant say exactly what what time it takes from Pune to Chittorgarh.
From Pune to left turn on link road to Lebag we made in 10 hours. that was possible only because we covered Pune Shirdi Malegaon road at night. If driving on that rout during day time it may take 2 hours more because of a lot of rural local traffic.`
Road from NH3 left turn on new link road up to Chittorgarh is exellent and new. Not much traffic, movement real fast but I cant say much about time.
On the way from Pune to Delhi we made the stretch from left turn on NH3 up to Ajmeer junction on NH8 in about 8 hours. On the way from Delhi same way took us 8:30 mostly during dark time and 1 hours for diner and 30 minutes on rail way crossing.
As of travelogue, I'm not much of a wirter, sorry, not planing much more to write. Weather in Kullu was good, only two days was raining, but it turned into snow one morning, so a lots of fun. Quite gonna miss it, till next trip I guess. |

Thanks for the info. | yes that is correct, left turn before Manpur and road is perfect. Only small portion like 20-30 kms 2 lanes in area of Rajastan border. But still it is possible to drive there quite fast.
Perfect to drive at night, almost empty road long straight stretches, almost perfect tar. No villages near the road, means unlikely you can face a dog. Bur there is foxes in few places, and strangely color of those foxes nearly same as color of tar at night. |
