WhatsApp rolls out 'Frequently forwarded' message label: All you need to know

WhatsApp has rolled out its ‘Frequently Forwarded’ feature in India. Earlier this month, it was reported that WhatsApp will soon roll out a new feature to check how many times a message has been forwarded. The Facebook-owned company introduced the “forwarding” label last year to help curb fake news. Back in March this year, WhatsApp submitted an Android Beta update, which had two new features, including “Forwarding Info” and “Frequently Forwarded”.

WhatsApp developing Boomerang-like video loop feature: Report

WhatsApp developers seem to be working on a new feature for the popular multimedia messaging platform. According to a report, the company seems to be working on a Boomerang-like feature for the app. If you have not heard about Boomerang then it is a customizable video preset present on Instagram. Users can use this feature to loop their videos in different ways. Similar to other upcoming features, the Boomerang feature is currently hidden from everyone. The report also noted that developers are currently working on the feature to ensure that it is bug-free at launch.

WhatsApp rolls out Fingerprint lock feature for Android Beta users starting today



During the course of development, the “Fingerprint Lock” feature has undergone a number of name revisions. As previously reported, the feature was initially known as Authentication and later renamed to Screen Lock. WhatsApp wants to ensure that the name of the feature best reflects what it does while not creating any confusion. According to a report by WABetaInfo, this feature is now available Android beta users running the app version 2.19.221. If you are WhatsApp betauser then you can double-check the version by going to “App info” under the “Help” menu in the “Settings” section.

WhatsApp Web to get Albums, Grouped Stickers feature: Report



As per WAbetaInfo, the web application is set to get two new features called Albums and Grouped Stickers. Both seem quite self explanatory, but here’s a look at what they will do. The Albums feature will essentially group multiple photos and videos in a single bubble. It is similar to what we see on the mobile apps. Grouped Stickers too work on the same principle. This feature too clubs multiple stickers shared on chat. It will group two stickers in one row, which just makes it aesthetically pleasing.

WhatsApp beta 2.19.260 for Android lets users hide muted status updates: Here is how



WhatsApp will finally let users to hide muted status updates. The Facebook-owned messaging service has pushed out a new update on Android that seems to be giving this option. Right now, when you mute status updates from a contact, WhatsApp shows them at the bottom as a greyed out update. But version 2.19.260 beta shows that it will let users to hide them completely. The feature is called Hide muted status updates and it allows users to hide the section into a collapsable list of muted status updates.

WhatsApp silently rolls out tool to share status on Facebook

Facebook-owned instant messaging app WhatsApp has started rolling out a feature for Android users to let them share their status stories directly on Facebook Story and other apps. Similar to Instagram, WhatsApp status Stories let users post images, text and videos on your profile that disappear after 24 hours.

WABetaInfo has shared some screenshots of the dark mode in the Android app, bearing the version number 2.19.294, that was recently submitted to the Google Play beta programme. The Dark Theme, as it has been mentioned in the app, is not available to users, owing to the testing phase it is underway. It has been discovered in the latest build that WhatsApp is continuing with blue night colours to develop the Dark Theme and that it will respect the system’s theme. This essentially means that if the device theme is set to dark, WhatsApp will enable Dark Theme automatically, or if the device is set to change themes according to sunset time, WhatsApp will turn dark as and when the device dark theme kicks in.

New details shared by WABetaInfo, mention the latest changes. The new update (v2.19.110) is roughly 78MB in size. It brings group privacy settings with an option to blacklist users. But one of the interesting features include the ability to hide display notification badges on app icon for muted chats. The update also brings in-app alignment guidelines to make sticker positioning, sending emojis and editing media easier. Sadly, the much-hyped Splash Screen isn’t mentioned in the changelog.

The messaging platform has finally added the group invitation system. This privacy option will allow users to control who can add them to groups.
