June 2019:

First highway run after service. LH fog lamp cover fell off somewhere. Car performed really well, then when I floored the pedal, suddenly started losing power and yellow coil warning light starts blinking when even I am in excess turbo range. Somehow managed to reach home, drove the crippled car some 50+ km. Quick scanned revealed some issue with turbo. Started searching common issues with turbo and the cost incurred and the dilemma came of disposing off the car due to the high cost incurred. Took the car back to the garage and on inspection they found the hose to be cracked causing all the trouble. Ordered hose right away. Turnaround time was around a week, car was still with us, in usable condition. Only power and mileage drop.

Total burn - ₹ 6750.00

Still there is the thought of replacing the car. Zeroed option is EcoSport, but chances are 50/50.

August 2019: More Troubles!!!

While returning home, car stopped abruptly in the middle of the road. On checking under, there was final droplets of some fluid meaning it was happening all the way back. Gave a heart attack fearing it was oil leak and engine done forever. Called up VW and they arranged a flatbed, which we have to pay from pocket instead of billing via them, which actually was way cheaper than what they would charge. ₹ 2,200.00 for a 10 km tow. Happened the night before Independence Day and the shop was closed for August 15th. Waited impatiently to hear from them. Got call the next day, it was ruptured fuel line and luckily not engine belly. Part was not in stock. Asked them to order and got car back in 6 days including 2 holidays. Insurance expired while car was there. They reminded of renewal and got it done from there as well.

Towing - ₹ 2,200.00
Fuel Line - 03P201360A - ₹ 4,637.00
Fuel Return Pipe Replacement - ₹ 1,113.84

Total - ₹ 7951.00

Insurance - ₹ 6,103.00

Pending jobs per them:
- Clutch replacement. Bite only at end. Almost 1.40 L km on stock clutch.
- Engine mount replacement. Whenever clutch is released from standstill, a weird movement is felt like struts misfit. No one found the issue till date. VW service is actually good here.
- LH fender and both doors denting and repainting thanks to a milestone.
- Driver door remove, realign, refit, dent and paint. Got in a weird situation damaging the door while reversing.

With this all these, the question again popped up, keep the car or new car?

Got a feedback message while paying bill. They took the phone, clicked the link, asked for our opinion, filled themselves [lol]

If it was welcome-back gift, they were wrong, this was the last, not because of their fault, but ........... [sad]

August 30, 2019: Gone for Ever.

Owing to high maintenance costs (Spent close to 90k in 2019 alone) and frequent fails, lost trust in our beloved mile muncher. Gone too soon. Lot of memories attached.

Update

The Polo was exchanged almost a year back. Car was stuck with a used car dealer for the insane price he was quoting (and he tampered the odo reading to 1.25L). I was keeping an eye on his OLX page. Then one day the listing was gone. Car was spotted in another district by an acquaintance. Just a casual search on MVD site showed speeding tickets 250 km away. Also the insurance expired and not renewed. Cherry on top, RC not transferred. Tension grew.

Contacted the dealer multiple times, who promised everything will be taken care of. After the speed ticket, sat on their head and finally got relief. RC change was applied 2 months back and delay in process due to pandemic situation. Dealer even sent the copy of the application with inward entry. Happy ending.

Final Update

RTO rejected the application due to expired insurance. Was about to call up the dealer and/or the new owner. Rechecked today and insurance renewed and name has been changed. Peace.

Tragic End

Car involved in a high-speed roll over. Disheartening to see our car ending like this. Occupants were safe. Looks like an insurance write off or will end up rotting in some police station.

Ownership changed right in time, else would've been involved in it as well. Still getting old speeding tickets, 8 of them so far to be paid.
