Still running solid. Any service is gonna cost 12-15k unless there is some serious replacment [evil]
I guess that is how it is here. My cousin in Blore hasn't paid anything above 10k till date to service his Polo TDI. The cheapest he got it done from there was for Rs. 6xxx which is half of what they charge here!!!! Too bad he can't find the bill

It's the customers who has to suffer the monopoly of the dealer. If parts were available outside, we could have done it much cheaper.

Very true. There is no scope for argument here. When I told this to the SE at the A.S.S, he just brushed me off saying they probably didn't do anything and that the service quality was low and told me to call Cochin showroom and ask them. I was like "Dude. Cochin showroom is also owned by EVM. What do you expect?"

Vipin

Silently crossed 70k last month, now past 71k.

Chosing new footwear. Went in for Michelin XM2 and finalized on them. They showed 2 Yokohoma models when we were about to bill the Michelins.

First one was Yokohoma Earth1. Made in India. More comfortable and longlasting of 2 according to them. Only 185/70-14 was in stock. We wanted 185/65-14 (stock was 175/70-14).

Second one was Yokohoma ES100. Always had love for unidirectionals, so chose it over Michelin and Earth1. Review was mixed. It's soft compound and shop guys said expect 35-40k km life. We are expecting only 25-30k km.

195/60-14, Same size as the MRF ZLO running on the i20, but almost 800 rs extra a piece. This one cost 5140 rs a piece. Totalling 20560 for type plus 600 for alignment and balancing.

Bought from New Bharath Tyres, oldest guys in town and used to be the most expensive and arrogant tyre shop. Thanks to Chinese imports and MRF shops in every nook and corner, they started feeling heat and now the most competitive pricing in town with the widest collection. You can chose from a huge choice of brands and models and also arranges any make/model that are not available with them.

Their equipments are pretty dated. First wheel alignment and balancing and nitrogen was by them. I remember queuing up at 2 in the afternoon and waiting till 7 pm to get my chance for the Estilo back in2006. That was the kind of rush there. Now with more shops, rush has reduced, but still turnaround time is more than others in wheel alignment. Customer waiting area is still of 2000 era with old CRT TV and mobile charing with all pin types with no microUSB in it. Installation and balancing was pretty quick but alignment took 10 mins after lifting up on ramp, which is usually 1 min in other newer shops without any adjustments in suspension. Still happy with the deal and service.

After running a couple of 100 kms, these tyres are great to push hard around corners and good in breaking.

Brake disk needs repair or replacement. Wornout layer 1-2 mm deep from edge. Brake pad also worn out.

Some people were wondering why one of their park lights is on despite switching off. There is a powersaving feature in VW cars, with ignition off and indicator on, the corresponding side park light will remain on.

Changed to normal Bosch blades and topped up coolant. Bosch blades are getting costlier and life is similar to Chinese frameless. I found it better to get frameless than going for Bosch, since we get aesthetic factor in addition to cost and life.

Room for adequate expansion.

Coolant is orange colored with some blah-blah spec unlike the regular green ones we usually get. Coolant level was below minimum for sometime and topped it up again.

Oil level was also down below minimum level in dipstick. This is why I hate this 15k/1 year service intervals. At least, they could have added a scheduled checkup in between. I don't get time to check around every car here every now and then [frustration]. They give back the extra oil left every time. Saved all these to add up as a liter. That came to rescue. It took the whole liter to brim upto the max in dipstick.

ES100 are made of silica based compound, which is not good for longevity. A friend had put them on his Fiesta. Sedate driver - never did more than 80 kmph. The ES100 lasted EXACTLY 18000 km.

Oh, and punctures, did I tell you anything about the punctures?[evil]

Advantage is oil quality quality won't deteriorate, but need to keep a check. Earlier they used to call 6 months for checkup and topup oil and check alignment and all. Now they got busy and blah blah. Like Chevy, they should have made a mandatory 7.5k checkup.

There are people who get much higher kms of thread life in their 100% silica based Michelin XM2 tires. So its not just the reason of silica based compound.

What is that moan? How can we understand that its the moan for an oil change?

I usually get oil change after 12-13k kms. I use Mobil1 engine oil and I didn't hear any moan till now.[confused]

The dumb door lock. You can't lock the doors like other cars. When engaged, it will still open from inside, only prevents externally opening it. [frustration]
