Honda has refreshed the Civic range for 2020, with a range of exterior styling revisions, a mildly reworked interior and additional standard equipment. The updated Honda Civic will be available to order from December, with first deliveries arriving in January.

The updated Honda Civic will retain the same engine range as the current car. The entry-level powertrain is a turbocharged 1.0-litre three-cylinder unit, developing 124bhp and 200Nm of torque. It can be paired with either a CVT or a six-speed manual transmission and offers emissions figures of 107g/km of CO2 and a claimed WLTP fuel economy of 49.6mpg.

Inside, the updated Honda Civic features new, textured dashboard panels and door cards, while range-topping models receive an eight-way electrically adjustable driver’s seat. In response to customer demand, Honda has also fitted physical buttons for the Civic’s infotainment system and climate control panel.

2020 Honda Civic Type R Adds Features and a Great New Color

01-2020-honda-civic-type-r-1578627789.jpg

  • Honda is revising the Civic Type R hot hatchback for 2020.
  • There are tweaks to the styling inside and out along with changes to the suspension and brakes. Driver-assist features are newly standard.
  • Pricing isn't available yet, but Honda says the 2020 Civic Type R will go on sale later this year.

The Civic Type R races into the 2020 model year with a few changes, some more significant than others. Honda has revised the suspension and brakes, while also modifying the styling inside and out and adding standard driver-assist features—though we didn't really miss them in such a driver-focused car to begin with.

Pictured here is the 2020 Type R in its new Boost Blue exterior color, which reminds us of the blue hue often used by Honda modifier Spoon. You'll also be able to spot the 2020 model thanks to its larger front grille opening that's said to help engine cooling. Inside, the steering wheel is now wrapped in faux suede and the shifter has a different design and shorter throws.

2020 Honda Civic Type R Adds LogR Data Logging App

screen-shot-2020-02-19-at-1-12-19-pm-1582145780.png?crop=0.981xw:1.00xh;0.png

The 2020 Civic Type R is updated with a revised suspension and brakes, modified styling inside and out, and the addition of standard driver-assist features. It'll also get a a new Honda LogR data logging application, accessible through Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, that displays vehicle information, records lap times, and monitors braking, acceleration, and steering.

Honda LogR has three main functions: a performance monitor, log mode, and auto score. Each of these modes is displayed on the Type R's infotainment screen, and unlike aftermarket data logging apps, Honda's LogR app takes data straight from the Type R's onboard computer.

New Honda Civic Type R facelift revealed for 2020

01_32.jpg

We got a glimpse of a revised Honda Civic Type R earlier this year but now the covers have come off completely, revealing a range of mechanical and mild cosmetic upgrades, plus two new variants that are set to take one of our favourite hot hatches in both more extreme and understated directions.

02_32.jpg

The previous Type R and Type R GT have been subjected to a series of minor changes. From the outside, the front and rear bumpers have been tweaked; each gets a colour-coded “styling blades” that sweep through the mock grilles on the bumpers’ outer edges, while at the front the overall look has been tidied up slightly, thanks to more neatly integrated fog lights.

03_32.jpg

The air intakes are larger, too, but this isn’t just for styling; the opening is 13 per cent larger than before, allowing more air to cool the radiator behind. ‘Racing Blue’ is a new exterior colour added to the Civic Type R pallette.

The Civic’s adaptive dampers and electric power steering system have been recalibrated not only to take into account the reduced unsprung mass of those wheels, but also because they are now wrapped in high-performance Michelin Pilot Sport Cup 2 tyres. It takes 5.7 seconds for the Limited Edition to cover the 0-62mph benchmark.

2020 Honda Civic Facelift Debuts In Malaysia

2020-Honda-Civic-Facelift-Debuts-In-Malaysia.jpg

The 2020 Honda Civic Facelift has been formally launched in Malaysia. The refreshed model of the tenth-gen mannequin has made its Malaysian debut nearly 5 months after it was previewed for the primary time. The delay in launch has been attributed to pricing-related points.

The refreshed sedan comes with minor styling modifications for the outside. The front-end now comes with a piano black end for the entrance grille as a substitute of the chrome trim accessible on the pre-facelift mannequin. The entrance bumper has additionally been redesigned. The rear-end receives a brand new bumper trim and a boot spoiler.

Different security options accessible on the 2020 Honda Civic facelift embrace Auto Excessive-Beam (AHB, LaneWatch digicam side-camera system, six airbags, entrance parking sensors, Automobile Stability Help (VSA), ABS, EBD, brake help, Emergency Cease Sign (ESS), Hill Begin Help (HSA) and a reverse digicam.

New Honda Civic Type R facelift: limited edition version sells out in UK

11_20.jpg

Honda has confirmed that the new Civic Type R Limited Edition is now sold out in Britain. Production was limited to 100 units globally – and just 20 examples were allocated for the UK market, priced at £39,995 each. The standard-issue 2020 Honda Civic Type R range will go on sale shortly, with pricing set to be announced in the coming weeks.

12_20.jpg

For its brief period on sale, the Honda Civic Type R Limited Edition was the fastest version of the Japanese brand’s flagship performance hatchback. Like the Renault Megane Trophy R, it achieves its performance gains not by adding power, but by saving weight.

13_20.jpg

Honda ditched the standard car’s air conditioning and infotainment systems, then removed the sound deadening from the Type R’s roof lining, rear hatch, front bumper and dashboard. Combined with new forged 20-inch BBS wheels, (which save 2.5kg per corner), the Limited Edition’s diet results in a 47kg weight loss compared with the Type R GT.

14_19.jpg

The Civic’s adaptive dampers and electric power steering system were also recalibrated, to take advantage of the car’s reduced unsprung mass and grippy Michelin Pilot Sport 2 tyres. However, the upgrades haven’t affected the Type R’s 0–62mph much, with Honda claiming the same time of 5.7 seconds.

16_16.jpg

Cosmetically, it’s set apart from other Civics most obviously by the bright Sunlight Yellow paint finish – a nod to the likes of the first Civic and Integra Type R models. The look is completed by a black roof, door mirrors and central bonnet vent. Each model also comes with a numbered plaque behind the gear shifter to mark its place in the build series.

2022 Honda Civic Type R Spy Photos Give First Look at 11th-Gen Compact

2022-honda-civic-type-r-spied-front-1590162904.jpg

  • This is the next-generation Honda Civic Type R, spied testing in prototype form.
  • The car's front-end camouflage seems like it's tricking us into thinking we're looking at some sort of BMW.
  • We're pretty sure this is our first look at the new eleventh-generation Honda Civic, which could debut later this year.
The Honda Civic Type R has hardly gotten stale yet, but it appears that Honda is already working on the next version of its extreme hot hatchback. These spy photos show a Civic prototype that has the unmistakable wing and aggressive wheels and tires of a Type R. And, disregarding the cheeky camouflage that attempts to make the front end look BMW-esque, this appears to be our first glance at the all-new 11th-generation Civic lineup that should begin arriving later this year.

The current Civic has been around since 2015, so this new model is right on schedule. We're used to seeing the normal Civic sedan and coupe before the high-performance variants take shape, but it appears that Honda is flipping the script this time around. This new Type R's hatchback shape doesn't seem all that different, but the reshaped headlights and taillights give it away as a new model. We can also see that the interior looks completely different, with its new steering wheel design and a tablet-style infotainment display sticking out of the dashboard.
