Poor metal sheet is another common cost-cutting method in small cars. In Liva it is ridiculously cheap. Twisting the key on the door (to lock / unlock) bends the door metal as well.

In this particular area you cannot beat Indian carmakers or rather to put it differently the older Indian car-makers never try to go cheap on the metal sheet guage/quality, from the days of the Ambassador till date it somehow seems that Indian carmakers believe in providing the customer with enough weight in metal if nothing else! [lol]

Honestly try to lift the bonnet/hood of any of the cars from older Indian car-makers & you can genuinely make out the difference of metal quality with modern/foreign cars!

+1. Lest we forgot, it's more to do with how our governments concentrate or interested on the safety of our citizens. Why wouldn't they have standards and disapprove products that don't meet them? That's where the fundamental issue is... Another important factor that we can't ignore is, buyer's mentality. As a consumer, we should boycott products which aren't worth that money. Many here just see what's running on the road and simply go with it without a question. Thankfully, some are cognizant on these facts and that can be seen in the market share in the last few years. Yet, not enough...

After all, these companies are here just to make money, nothing else. So, they would obviously be more interested in making it as cheapest as possible to be more and more profitable, unless it's stopped by oneway or other.
