TVS Wego Review

TVS-Wego-Side-View.JPG

TVS Wego Review Synopsis: TVS Wego price tag is between Rs. 49055 – 51770 (Ex.showroom, Delhi). It officially launched in India in 2009.

TVS has a long history of manufacturing gearless scooters, they have been one of the most recognized brands in 50cc to 100cc range when it comes to mopeds, but with time changing and more manufacturers stepping in, things have become a little harder for TVS to grab hold of Indian market as before.

However, their efforts are still going on at the fullest, and an example of such an effort is New Wego, This 110cc scooter is claimed to be rolled out after doing an extensive market research of over 2 years. We find out how fruitful this attempt by TVS proves to be.

TVS Wego is most grown up moped manufactured by TVS till date; it’s certainly bigger, fresher, and faster and gives an impression of being a classic 110cc scooter. The smiling headlamp is clear multi-reflector type with Halogens accommodating inside, offering much required illumination during night times. Right below on each corner of front is leaf shaped lamps, in which reside the indicators and parking lamps; they look too nice to ignore. Approaching on to the side makes one re-think whether this is actually a TVS, all thanks to the heavier stance and no-nonsense design, laid out with clean body without work of graphics, and only the name “Wego” embarked on it. The rear looks comparable with Scooty Streak, particularly tail lamps which brag the use of stylish LEDs and makes them look quite pretty.

Instrument cluster of Wego is triangular shaped and uniquely designed; it houses twin dials, one being the speedometer and another fuel gauge respectively. Additionally there are a couple of indicators for high beam and side signals. The Speedometer has an indication of economy range which assists in achieving better fuel efficiency.

More than the looks, where Wego does not miss to impress is the utility prospect which is very well taken care-of by TVS. The fuel fill is peripheral resulting that rider doesn’t needs to get off the seat at the petrol bunks; another fine aspect about Wego is its storage space. There’s an optional glove box under handle bar in addition to the
under seat storage space, Also under seat compartment has a mobile charging socket too.

In fact, even center stand has a technology behind itself, which enables user to set the center stand by depress of stand lever. We believe, this feature will make people use the center stand much often over traditional side stand due to its application ease.

Mopeds have never been known best for their handling. These are basically meant for those who are not a fan of gear shifts in ruthless traffic, however, now the times have changed. Wego handles pretty well on highways as well as in city traffic conditions. According to TVS, such handling has been made possible by Body Balance Technology. Now, moving onto the real riding part, we were a bit disappointed in initial 5 kms, unlike Suzuki Access which runs like a race horse on slight twist of throttle, the Wego can be referred as tamed and calm horse which obeys its master, in same words.

Start the engine and you will hear the typical scooter-like sound which here is a bit damped. With slight twist of the accelerator, Wego easily zooms to a decent speed of 40kmph. Now this speed easily helps to get out of the entangled web of heavy city traffic. While cruising on this speed I thought that the engine will surely cry for mercy if driven at 60kmph or above, but however proved to be wrong. In no time I was cruising at 70 kmph with no sign of the engine being running out of breath, even at speeds of 70-80 kmph, the engine sound isn’t audible.

The four stroke engine of Wego is aided by a Digital IDI Technology which was earlier used by the TVS in the Apache. This tech. helps Wego to deliver a delightful fuel efficiency of 50kmpl.

All in all, In this cut throat competition, when most of 2 wheel giants are in race to launch technology laden scooters, one after another, in market, TVS has done their home work perfectly well before releasing Wego, and it shows. TVS Wego makes yet another value for money scooter over all, and gladly the common flaws usually seen on other scooters have been well detached making Wego a worth contender in 110cc segment.

Thanks Archit.
TVS Wego is indeed one of a great entrant and is doing pretty well in market. Waiting periods for Activa have diverted many to this new TVS.

Excellent review man! If we put Wego & Rodea side by side, I think, Rodeo is the best pick. However, TVS has his history to back them up!

Thanks![:)]
Honestly i am not a fan of Rodeo which to me looks too feminine. Though the instrument cluster of Rodeo is the most attractive of any motoscooters available in india.

@Shynish- Yeah, Duro looks much better than the Rodeo.
TVS however enjoys the trust of its customer atleast in the motoscooter segment.
