Gavi is an eco-tourist spot in Kerala which has widely become popular after 'Alistair International' the world acclaimed tourism major listed it among the leading eco-tourism centres and one of the must-see places in India. A must visit place for all nature lovers as Gavi is preserved in its natural scenic beauty untainted by the mighty hands of modernity. Gavi is mainly known for its wildlife. Endangered species including the Nilgiri Tahr and Lion-tailed macaque are often sighted at the outskirts of Gavi. Kerala’s very own treasure elephants can be sighted abundantly. If you are the bird watcher, Gavi is the place for you. With more than 260 species of birds including the great pied hornbill, woodpecker, and kingfishers, Gavi is a heaven for birdwatchers. A splendid spot to be visited at least once for all those who love nature.
Lot more photos, and travelogues are available about Gavi. Why we can't explore it ? Gavi is having the cleanest and best air in India (as per survey). We decided to explore it on Tuesday, 20th August 2019, a days trip. We took a package tour, as we are not familiar of the forest procedures, check posts, terrain, sight seeing places, locations having wild animals etc.

GREEN MANSION
Green Mansion, aptly named is a mansion in the lap of nature bounteously blessed with greenery has 9 rooms ranging from 2 bed to 6 beds. From the Green Mansion, one can savor the spectacular view of the Gavi Lake and the adjoining forests. After Registration at Gavi go for a relaxing row boat ride and then proceed for a visit to the cardamom plantation and inhale aromatic whiffs of cardamom and then to the curing house. Sabarimala viewpoint is the next spot in the itinerary, the scenic beauty spot to capture the panoramic view of the Sabarimala hills and the pilgrim spot. Return to the Green Mansion for night stay. Sleep in the serenity of the woods away from the fast life of the city. Wake up early for a Vehicle safari through the forest for 2 1/2 hours to catch a glimpse of wildlife and exotic birds. After the safari has a delicious breakfast and goes for the trekking through safe trek paths in the jungle. After the vegetarian lunch checkout from Gavi.
Green Mansion is at Gavi, near Gaviyar Dam. As in the URL mentioned in the first thread, State tourism is offering different packages, including guided Trekking. Kindly follow the guidelines of those forest trained Guides. Recently, a member of a team killed by wild elephant on their trekking.
September to February is the most suitable time to visit Gavi. June to September is Monsoon time, and can enjoy Gavi during Monsoon.
